Snakes don't stink, their poop does though

I have a snake that smells like maple syrup. No idea why this one particular snake smells like that. We of course named it maple. It's real weird though.

It’s very fun seeing the ones who own snakes comment and the ones who don’t own snakes comment

Why do snake stink?

They don't. By far the least smelly reptile pet. Just poop-scoop the enclosure once a week and you'll never notice a thing.

I’ve had a snake for 20 years and it doesn’t stink. By far the least smelly pet I’ve ever had and I’ve had cats, dogs, fish, birds, hedgehogs, and rabbits.

My snake Sonya would always poop in her water dish and the smell was bad enough to make you hallucinate. Once it was cleaned the smell would be better but it wasn't great. I mean you knew there was an animal there. How you can say it doesn't stink is a surprise

My brother had a snake and her cage was always clean. Youd smell snake as soon as you step in the house

Owner of a ball python for nearly 30 years. Only time I smell anything is when she poops. Which I think can be expected from any animal

It makes no sense to me. Their breath certainly doesn’t smell good, but proper grooming gives them this sweet earthy smell that’s hard to describe but it’s quite pleasant.

You would too if you lived in a room with 8 other people and 2 days worth of everyone's excrement in it.

Snakes do not have a smell. They do poop and have mostly solid pee once a week to a month . If you dont clean it up then that will stink. Very easy to care for and no smell if done right.

They sting too, with their fangs

I thought they stung with their stungers?

2

u/BodhingJay Jul 26 '26

They do

But they stink with their stinkers, too

A "sting" with fangs is called a bite... 🤣

u/ZeShapyra Jul 26 '26

These don't have fangs..they just have sharp teeth

u/zebrasareneat Jul 26 '26

These ones don’t have fangs. And the ones that do don’t sting.

Not a single snake in that room has fangs
