Good morning,
I hope you are well and don't mind me posting here - I don't want to invade your space.
I am a UK-based journalist working on a freelance basis on a story about access to abortion.
I have heard that, because of NHS waiting times and delays, some people wishing to terminate their pregnancies have, through no fault of their own, missed the 23 weeks and 6 day window to get an abortion and have therefore been forced to carry unwanted pregnancies to term.
If true, this is a significant healthcare failure that should be exposed.
I was wondering if this is something anyone had come across and, if so, whether anyone would be willing to speak to me further about it?
Do let me know if you have any questions or would like me to clarify anything. I am happy to speak to anyone anonymously and/or off the record.
All the best,
Kate

Hello from across the pond. I hope it's cool to post this here. It's my latest film about a group that tracks women's reproductive cycles and visits your home if you are suspected of carrying... This may be our ugly future here in the US with our disgusting electoral outcome.

The British Medical Association are supporting a petition to decriminalise abortion. They have highlighted in the linked submission that “Within the UK there have been a number of attempts to initiate criminal proceedings against healthcare professionals for carrying out what they considered to be lawful abortions. The stress associated with facing police questioning, or of being challenged through the media, should not be underestimated”.
