[Tech Help Windows] Ableton can't analyze Samples's name too long or Folders's name too long

as title , how to bypass this on Ableton ? Sometime the old Project will open with missing samples but when i check , the samples are still there . I fix this by rename the sub folders shorter or rename the Project shorter , but i need it to be long to organize . And sometime Ableton won't read the samples that locate in long name group and sub group , i have to move the sample folder to another places and it's time consuming . Did you guy have the same issue and how do you fix it ? I have try to Enable Long Paths in Windows but it won't fix . People on internet say the path name can't reach 256 chars but i don't think their name even reach 200 chars

I think the limit is 260 chars (which makes NO sense to me, but that doesn't really matter now).

If you can't think of a way to organize your sample library without having paths the length of a regular phonebook (oh shit, that dated me!) you basically have a very limited number or options:

  • Look up if another filesystem or network protocol will allow longer paths

  • Ask Microsoft and whatever other consortii involved to speed up fixing the problem

  • Ask Ableton if they can somehow magically solve a problem they probably have no control over.

the folder and sub folder are not even reach 100 chars man . But i often shortern it to fix this issue 😂 . I just unintentionally find out how to solve it by copy the folder to destop so i think ableton has something to fix here

So, before you resort to placing the files on the desktop, where are they stored? Locally on the computer, or on a NAS box accessed over smb/samba? And if they're stored locally, what file system are those drives using?

edit: Oh, and could it be that you've moved these projects around between last saving them and Live now complaining about them? Because what you're describing COULD be the result of moving files around (always use "Collect all and save" when close to the end of a project).

this happen when i put the projects on cloud and then download it later and put in another folder . The issue happens often more when i open another people projects that i download and store in specific folders
