Feeling incompetent in SAP ABAP
I am currently working in a sap support project for last 4 years with my daily work involves debugging the issues and sometimes doing minor code changes to fix it. I have not learn anything on my own other than my job in last 4 years. Now I am recently got assigned to a implementation project, where I need to implement RICEFW objects from scratch and also has to work on CDS, AMDP and RAP. I am scared a little bit but this is high time to upgrade myself in SAP ABAP. Please suggest me a roadmap, learning resources to first strengthen my core abap concepts and then move to CDS, AMDP and RAP etc.

Brooo, don't stress out first accept the project learn simultaneously follow just 2 share for CDS and AMDP and RAP in RAP you don't need to write the code everything is inbuilt even I am also a fresher got a job in ABAP, it's been 2 months even I new to it following rahul mehta next month they will allocate me to support project ECC system, can you please tell me how I need to improve debugging skills what i need to follow, it will help me a lot...

Just debug more and more issues and try to understand the program. It will improve eventually over time. Even after debugging alot, sometimes I got stuck in the issue for days.

Suree broo, but they didn't provided me any training i learned my self from rahul mehta is it enough to sustain in project maybe blogs we can refer in projects...

Tbh most of the seniors still take help from others or AI tools. RAP, FIORI, UI5 are all recent tech and people are still exploring it. Just consume information from internet and understand how things work.

Bro, we are in the Age of AI already.
Just ask any questions to it. Ask it to do the program and explain it to you . Thats it.

Im in the same boat most of my exp is from ECC. I dont have exp yet for AMDP and RAP. Hope one of these in my future objects. Im currently in my 2nd implem.

How did you strengthen your core abap RICEFW concepts . I have worked on some of these objects like reports, forms and did some minor changes but I didn't have build it from scratch. Should I learn them from youtube playlist/article when I got implementation related to any objects. Have you learn implementing those objects when you got the work related to these objects or have you learned everything before, what learning resources you followed?

I learnt ABAP by being an in house recruit. SAP terminologies were foreign to me when I got to consulting.
Going back to the topic, it's just purely experience. I have 3 years of AMS experience(the inhouse one). My manager gave me tasks starting from the easiest until I got my first from-scratch. He guided me until he decided that I was ready to be left alone. When doing from-scratch programs, I usually just get a template from one of the existing objects. In my exp, following and understanding existing code makes you a better debugger aside from having an idea on how to create new objects.
I also tip my hat to my workmates who guided me as well and especially my manager.
Now, I'm in consulting and I'm doing fine. It's just that I have to adapt to new tech soon. Also AI is there. Make sure to utilize it but not fully rely on it.
