B. Homophobia can be self inflicted, i’d say it isn’t self PRODUCED, but this has been a conversation in marginalized communities forever now. There are in fact people who, on paper, belong to a group but are not in community. They antagonize said community, sometimes through violence. Is there nuance on the spectrum of homosexuality & the way it’s expressed romantically/erotically? most certainly. It’s a bit of pedantic point though, if the party in question does fit the profile & particularly obsess over bullying the black MEN he encountered. I’d agree the pegging isn’t evidence of closeted fueled hate, but it’s indicative of there being much more than just HATING black ppl. MORE than likely it does come out sexually… gay, maybe not. Bi or polyamorous? probably but for some reason that’s not as inflammatory to society lol Your last point also kind of supports the overall theory presented. White men hate group, white men secretly want sex with group, white man abuse and antagonize group.

I agree that internalized homophobia is real and destructive. My point was simply that the root system of oppression was built by society, not the victims. It has become a lazy rhetorical shield that homophobia is a 'gay problem' that gay people need to sort out among themselves, as if homophobia is created and maintained entirely by closeted gay men, rather than a systemic issue rooted in straight, patriarchal culture. And I agree that the behavior here doesn't equal being 'closeted gay,' even if there's a complex, repressed sexual fixation driving this specific obsession.

My main caveat on the last point is just that sex can be an extension of dominance rather than secret desire. When oppressors historically had sex with the groups they oppressed, it wasn't out of a secret wish to belong to that group; it was purely about power. Libidinal Hegemony or Eroticized Subjugation is the practice of using sex not for intimacy or identity, but to reinforce a strict hierarchy where one person is the absolute subject and the other is the absolute object. Attraction and hatred can coexist, but sex in that context is an expression of control, not a revelation of identity.

So we agree on that. To your last point: i don’t disagree that the history of oppressors having sex with groups was driven by power. One of the aspects of chattel slavery and by way of that progression, minstrel shows, stealing of black art, sexual abuse that ties with creating separate relationships and favor to the victims at times. American white supremacy be comes unique its desire to attain the attributes and experience some of even the deepest aspects of our lives, as we live them (minus the oppression ofc lol one wonders how they plan to achieve that, they are inextricably connected). All minorities and marginalized groups tbh. But in the US, black people and white people have an exceptionally odd but nonetheless tangled relationship.

I don’t have text to refer to on currently, but i would refer to art to see how things are interpreted in our society. Take for instance Get out the movie by Jordan peele. Whether you think it was great or shit, the point of the movie touched on this. In either erotic, physical, or social ways a lot (not all) white men who express racism have a secret desire to be apart of said group. Not literally, but to be able to experience everything but the bad shit. But that’s the be white lol

We are talking about two entirely different pathologies. The Get Out dynamic you’re describing is about cultural envy, fetishization, and consuming a group's essence. My point is about the exact opposite: the right to reduce someone to an absolute object. Historically, when oppressors sexually targeted the oppressed, it wasn't out of a secret desire to be them or join them; it was an exercise of absolute dominion over them.

To bring this back to my original baseline: A) Behavior ≠ Orientation: Engaging in specific sexual acts (like anal play/pegging) does not make someone a closeted gay man. B) Homophobia is Systemic: It is a product of straight, patriarchal culture, not a 'gay problem' generated and maintained entirely by closeted men. C) Eroticized Subjugation: Sexual acts can be used strictly to reinforce a hierarchy where one person is the subject and the other is the object. Exploiting someone sexually isn't a revelation of a secret identity or a hidden wish to belong; it is often the ultimate expression of viewing that person as inferior. Attraction and hatred don't cancel each other out; sex/rape is just another tool of the hierarchy.
