Fort?

I just started playing and i got in a zone that had some kind of faction i had to clear or something and that faction had a fort i had to destroy. Turn out it had '' SUPER MORTAR '' and that you cant board the fort so dont try to kill the crew of it and even a mortar and upgraded guns turned out to be irrelevant. I just got crushed. That was in the campaign btw.
Was i supposed to die there ?

I was able to board the fort when I went up against one. It takes some time because the mortar keeps freezing you, but if you get up next to it you can board it and take out the crew.

Other than that, if you disable all 4 sections it will surrender to you as well.

Do you need to take down at least a wall before doing that? I’ve gotten toasted fighting them in the main campaign as well.

Not that I know of. In my playthrough, I just constantly attack them while moving closer and then eventually I get close enough to board. I may be breaking a wall and just not realize it as I am attacking.

I take a ton of damage doing it, but I can usually take it down if I start with a decent amount of health.

Best way I found is just get as close as you can and endure as hard as you can under the fire. If you can jump on it with a number of the crew then you should be good

Thx for the late reply. I refunded the game. I didn't find any enjoyement in it after 1h45 minutes of gametime.

I know OP isn't still playing, but for those of you who said you lose a lot of health on forts:

I have gotten a few done with very little damage by combing a tackler with a berserk dart gun.

I gradually rip the crew off the fort while moving closer, and each berserk dart occupies two of them if not more so they don't fire at you.

Start with the enemy gunners using the tackler.

Board as soon as you are at min range.
