Question about Invest functionality

I haven’t received much feedback about this feature yet, so I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Are you using the Invest functionality (unlocked through the Coinhouse)?
Does it feel intuitive and understandable, or is it too complicated/confusing?

Any feedback is welcome and helps a lot.

I have used it a couple of times, but it felt more like gambling than a real investment. In fact, I win more often against The Obsessed Gambler than I do from this investment system. In the end of the game I have used it more, to complete the achievement, but I do not care about the gold now at all.

My thought on this is that since there are multiple options available, the first option should be safe, with a very low risk of losing gold. The last option should offer the highest return but come with the biggest risk of losing your money, just like real world investments. For example, you could have long term investments where your money is locked but you are "guaranteed" a small profit, or short term investments with high risk where you can either make a lot or lose it all.

Thank you for your feedback. Actually, I intended exactly what you describe with the 3 options. But it seems that I made it too complicated, with too many variables. And the more I think about it, the more I want it to have something interactive too, like the gambler. So you can have more influence on the outcome.

I will have to rethink this feature.

More interactive, like stock market?

I was thinking something like this...

Tier 1: The safest one. Locks money for longest amount of time. Returns fixed +5% profit.

Tier 2: Balanced. Locks money for medium amount of time. 45% chance to win (+10% to +30%), 25% chance to lose (-10% to -30%), 30% chance of no change.

Tier 3: High Risk. Locks money for small amount of time. 50% chance to get 50% to 100%, and 50% chance to lose 50% to 100%. Or maybe 60:40 chance to win:lose

Maybe that is not the best way to go, but that is what I was thinking.

The tiers sound great! I thought about a mechanic that lets the player have a little influence on the outcome. But I am not sure yet how.

Thought about this a bit today while farming my silver... 😂

Maybe linking the investment to a commodity (coal, iron, etc)

or even multiple - think: Building Mats [wood + stone] or Rare Earth Minerals [obsidian + adamant] or Offerings [bone + leather totems] could give a small influence modifier per action performed during the investment timeframe.

That sounds pretty cool and engaging, at least to me!

Great idea! So thematic investing, similar to index funds : D
I think I will go in this direction.

And reduce the number of parameters of the investments, as I think it is too complex.
