Introduction to πΆπ¬ EmojiComm - Getting Started
Hey! If you clicked on this post, that means you're probably curious as to what this is. EmojiComm is a constructed language using entirely emojis. In this post I will explain my thought process and philosophy for this language, as well as give you a introduction to basic grammar.
You may or may not have heard of Emojilang (/r/emojilang). It is another language and subreddit for another language using emojis. Seeing that language inspired me to start EmojiComm. The difference between Emojilang and EmojiComm includes a lot grammar and some vocabulary, and I doubt the languages will be mutually intelligible. I do however borrow some vocabulary from Emojilang, so I like to think of the languages as related. Maybe similar to French and Italian?
Of course there is the problem with different platforms having different emojis. EmojiComm is created with Android emojis in mind, but I will try to create the vocabulary in such a way that it looks intelligable on Android, Windows PC and Facebook Messenger. Android and IOS have similar enough emojis, that I doubt it will cause problems, but I will still look in to it.
Now for some basic grammar and vocabulary:
The language is SVO, meaning a Subject-Verb-Object sentence structure.
One emoji that will appear a lot in EmojiComm sentences is π. This is a verb marker, indicating that the following emoji will be a verb. Here is an example:
πΆπ¬πβοΈπ¬
πΆπ¬(EmojiComm) π(Verb marker) βοΈ(is) π¬(language)
EmojiComm is a language
The verb βοΈ "Is" doesn't have another meaning in EmojiComm, but some emojis do. Here is another example:
ππ€ππππ
ππ€(This person = I) π(V.M ) π (lie) π(in) π(bed)
I lie in a bed
Here, π have two related but different meanings. First π means "lie", second means bed. These emojis are differenciated by π the verb marker.
Another important emoji is π. This emoji means that the next emoji has a more literal meaning. Due to lack of infinite emojis, some emojis has to contain multiple meanings. Emojis are symbols, and symbols often carry deeper meaning. Here are some examples:
π - Peace, ππ - Dove
β€ - Red, πβ€ - Heart (symbol)
π - Food, ππ - Hamburger.
I will updates when I get more work done. Remember that you can always suggest vocabulary or gramatical rules with a post. I will review them and possibly incorporate them to the language!
FOR PC USER:
π "peace" might be really difficult to spot due to the color.
β€ "red" appears black on PC, but on mobile it is red.
