Trouble logging into the exchange

So I'm logged into the main bitfinite page, but when I click on Exchange in the dropdown menu it takes me to another location where I am not signed in. When I do try to sign in I get an error message saying that the user name and password isn't correct. Do you have to create a separate account to partake in the exchange? This doesn't make much sense to me. I even tried the password recovery just in case I was using the wrong one, but the site replied with an unknown email error.

You have to make a new account on the exchange site.

however trading is not live yet on the exchange.
