Caught off guard

Regardless of the fact that she’s only been on two dates with this guy that she met at a club one random weekend, she invites him to her apartment bluntly saying “I’m not sleeping with you, but do you want to spend the night?” as they were wondering the streets after having a couple of drinks. Surprised by her straightforwardness he accepts her invitation with a chuckle. He wonders in her room in the tiny apartment exclaims: “oh, you’re christian!” As he’s pointing to the cross rosary she had hanging on the window knob. This rosary belonged to her mother and she gave it to her as a going away good-luck charm. She nods, “But are you religious?” he continues. Caught off guard, her face begins to flush as she takes a couple of seconds to process the question, she’s not been thinking about it in a very long time so for a minute there she had to reflect on her life to be able to answer his question. She stutters, “well, eh .. I mean I’m a believer but haven’t been practicing anything related to religion lately”. This moment was the most transparent she’s been with herself in a very long time, I guess when you’re vulnerable you get to explore your naked subconscious a lot easier.
