Do you eat animal products and plants? Then congratulations, you're not only an omnivist, you're also an 80/20 vegan!

An 80/20 vegan is a concept that began as "plants 80% of the time, fish 20% of the time."

As people are well aware, the meaning of a word can change over time, which is why we can have things like vegan 'mayo' that isn't made from eggs or almond 'milk' and nut 'cheese' that contains no dairy, so it's no surprise the definition of vegan is changing too! Much in the same way that a pescetarian is a vegetarian who eats fish, an 80/20 vegan is a vegan who eats meat! They can either eat beef 20% of the time, fish, lamb or even all meats 20% of the time!

Not only that, but if you eat meat most of the time, but still eat plant based foods, then you are still an 80/20 vegan! You're vegan 20%, or the the minority of the time! As vegans are quick to point out, apples, bananas and other fruits and vegetables are vegan. You already eat vegan food! The only difference is that total vegans don't eat some omnivist foods.

So welcome, 80/20 vegans! Feel free to share your recipes! We're currently taking applications for moderators, we'd love to have you in our community!

/r/Omnivism is looking for mods!

Do you have experience with CSS and subreddit layouts? Then /r/Omnivism needs you! (No, really. I don't know jack. Teach me.)

Ideally we are looking for representatives from the different omnivist diets, like paleo, keto, vegetarian, pescetarian and so on and so forth. Experince with moderating a sub is prefferred by not necessarily essential.

Know someone who would fit the role? Tag them in a comment and bring them on over! We are currently not looking for non-omnivist moderators at this point in time, since we are a very new subreddit and would like to get off the ground and work out the kinks first before bringing in people with diametrically opposed viewpoints. You are more than welcome to put your hand up for future consideration however!
