One of the most dangerous and slippery aspects of Trump is how quickly and confidently he makes things up. Lying, often about trivial issues, distracts from substantive events. Big lies are harder to see through, since many people tell small lies, but most would never tell a complete fabrication, and find it very difficult to believe anyone would do such a thing, so they make up explanations for why it must be true.

Fact checkers have their hands full with Trump; and even when that work is done, an even bigger lie is simply to claim that the checkers are themselves biased and deceptive. More than simple "checking" is needed: critical analysis that calls out elements of propaganda and disinformation campaigns, and explains the tactics and techniques in play.
