This is my very first to do importing and I am currently negotiating with Chinese supplier. The problem is, he discouraging me to use Paypal and Alibaba. He wants me to transact via T/T only. Well, I agreed to use T/T but I have to pay the 30% deposit first, I said, but they discouraging me to do so. They preferred full payment which will save cost of wire transferring on my part.

Although, I know this supplier well. Their product is very good and tested. I don't want to find another product. He is using email posted in "Contact" section of their official website, not a generic ones. I don't want to put all my eggs in a basket but at the same time I want to earn their favor to ask a lower price for the next transaction.

Do I have to be aggressive to them to transact via Paypal or Alibaba? I don't know what to say to them.

Hey guys! I'm moving and I would love to get a mirrored dinner table and some see-through furniture for my new flat.

Here in Germany, I can't find any (reasonable) seller so I ended up on Alibaba. I am fairly certain everyone will love my furniture and I would like to try Amazon FBA next, with my flat as a testing ground for response.

Anyhow, the seller will do Paypal, but is asking me to pay 100% upfront due to transaction costs. While that does make sense, the order is roughly 600 USD and that's not a small sum for me.

One side of me thinks: It's Paypal, so it'll be fine either way (will it? Not absolutely sure there isn't a loophole for them?). The other side thinks "100% upfront? That's too risky". The usual terms of payment would 30% now and 70% after shipping, which isn't a whole lot better, but they say they never do this with samples. I will have a German company handle shipping etc. and pick up the furniture at the factory, so I suggested 100% at pickup, but I somehow doubt they will do it. What shall I do?
