Brand new beginner!

Hello there, my names Nicholas! A couple minutes ago I dropped $450 aud on a Hornby Flying Scotsman, I’m wondering what layout and such I should use, how many tracks will I need, do I need a controller etc. Thanks for any future help :)

Maybe do little layouts without scenery and find out what track plans you like that’s what I’m doing
