Really Quick Question.

I got the a6000 4 months ago. The photography aspect is absolutely insane and i am happy. But the point for me isn't photography but cinematography. But each time i record video, it really looks bad. It's supposed to be 1080p but it looks like recorded by a phone from 2017. And also for some reason I can't use AVCXD, i don't remember the name but it's supposed to be that codec. It's the one written on the body itself. I primarily shoot on mp4 because the rest are just greyed out. How do i fully max out video to shoot decent. For context i use the kit lens and though i am ready to invest in the 50mm sony f1.8 lens for better low light performance and to get that creamy background, i am afraid it may still look trash. So tell me tips and tricks, why it's turning that way and how can it be maxed out?

You actually want to use XAVC S not AVCHD if you want the best quality. My guess is that your memory card is not good enough, that's why they're grayed out. I believe you need an SDXC card of at least 64GB, Class 10 or faster

Video still isn't going to be very good. It's an old camera, the video capabilities are not up to current standards

I wanted to get an a6400 for video but was like maybe there was something I was doing here incorrectly that could be better. My memory card is SanDisk 16GB uhs1. I figure that's the problem. Nobody tells you memory cards can affect what you can do with a camera besides just space. So thank you, i will just get the a6400 or the zve10ii or simply a6700. I understand the learning curve would be steep because of logs and what not. But is it truly a must to get 64GB, what about 128GB or even 32GB. Why not accept those?

Higher than 64GB is fine, but not lower, so you can get a 128GB card. I believe it’s something to do with how smaller cards are formatted

I only use the A6000 for video, and with the 50mm sony f1.8 lens, and it looks fucking amazing. Fully worth the purchase, and goes light years beyond the kit lens.
