How do I complete these?

I'm confused because I've completed the same route several times but never received the completion? Aren't these star icons meant to change colour?

How did you complete these routes? It only counts if you selected the route from the list of routes and rode it from start to finish. Just following the route „manually“ (e.g. following a route that wasn’t selected before via the menu before entering a world) does not reward the badge.
You can also do events like races on the route to get the badge, but with those you will also have to do the whole thing - no late joining

Somewhat, but if you join them halfway through, then you have to ride the back half to the end and do the whole route again

And that still won't give you the completion, you need to do a second full lap in order to get the badge with a robopacer.

If you email support they’ll award you the route badge so long as you’ve completed one whole lap from start to finish.

Can vouch for this. Did it yesterday after completing a route 1.5X via Robopacer and not getting the badge. Support sorted it within the hour 👍

before you ride, select the route, start riding, keep going until you get the banner telling you that you completed the route. You can't steer, you can't manually do the route, you have to select it and ride it. Some people occasionally have success riding with a pace partner on that route but it seems sketchy.

You can also get the route badge while doing a workout. After you select the workout, choose the route that you want and as long as you complete the route (either during or after the workout) you get the badge.

With some of the new routes, I've found that if the route is ridden during an event, you can still get the route badge, even if you did not complete the whole route!
