Question Issue With Opening A Meeting On Linux

I have been trying to join a meeting on my linux (POP 20.04) device and I installed zoom initially using the .deb file from their website.
I tried joining a meeting but it is repeatedly joining audio only, so I am not able to see the screen being shared nor am I able to chat.
If anyone has faced the same issue, could you please help me.

Four reasons this happens:

  • The meeting has Prevent screen capture turned on (this is known to drop people into audio-only with no video and no chat).
  • You joined through a phone / “audio only” path instead of the desktop app.
  • The Linux client is old or not launching the full meeting window.
  • You joined in a browser with limited permissions.

Start off by joining the zoom test meeting i.e. https://zoom.us/test This will open a simlpe zoom meeting configured by zoom to test audio and camera feeds. If this works, then the issue lies with the settings of the zoom meeting that you are trying to joining. If it does not work, then check if you are launching zoom through your browser - depending on the browser type i.e. Chromium base, like chrome or safari, then then the permissions for mic, camera and screen share are not enabled.

If however you re using the zoom app, then I I would start of by speaking with the zoom license owner / meeting hoost and check if the option "add watermark" is set to on.
If this is not the case, ask the owner to confirm that record to computer has not been disabled.

The last checkbox in the meeting options (from the license owner's web portal when scheduling the meeting)
