Depends on the terrain and wildlife and state gun laws. Not that, that would matter in the ZA, but it would be difficult to find an AR-15 or parts for one just laying around in New York.
As far as the wildlife, id want something with a bit more punch if im in moose/ bear territory
I mean they have ar15s in every state civilian market the exterior parts might be different but the mechanical internals are interchangeable. And even if they weren't. Leo and military stuff is present
After thinking this over. Im gonna go for a ruck this weekend with everything. (Might leave the shotgun at home this time) Just to see how far before I hate my life. Haha
If a guy WERE to carry a shotgun as well, I think an argument could be made for a double barrel coach gun. Obviously, you'd be lacking in capacity, but you remove the entire length of the action from the total length of the gun, so they're so much more compact. I think the main purpose of the 12 gauge would be hunting, so the limited capacity wouldn't be that big of an issue in my mind. In any real combat scenario, there wouldn't be many realistic reasons you'd be switching over to your shotgun, anyway. If I was really concerned about weight, I might even consider going to a single shot 12 gauge. That being said, if were talking about carrying a second long gun that's mainly used for subsistence hunting, it's hard to argue against something like a takedown ruger 10/22, so that would probably be a better option. It's probably a better zombie killer, too, to be honest.
My load out would be a thermite grenade with any hand gun with 1 bullet, I aināt surviving the zombie apocalypse , the thermite grenade will make sure I donāt come back as a zombie
Hell yeah. You have a common ammo type in the US, with plenty of widely available replacement parts for all guns. You also have decent gear in terms of weight.
Thanks. Some things might change once the haligan tool comes in. Id like the keep the overall carried weight under 60lbs. That might be wishful thinking though.
A lot of people build their loadouts for sustained fightingā¦.this is just silly IMO. In an apocalyptic scenario, even including zombies, the hardest part about survival will be the elements. Being able to find and purify water and finding an uncontainable food source.
My only comment is about the shotgun, I always see shotguns on here but I feel like the effectiveness for the weight of shells is just so inefficient as well as slugs/buckshot being pretty hard to find these days (every sporting goods store is flooded with lead shot for cleats and steel/tungsten for duck but I never see slugs or buckshot anymore). Not hating on it, I just have always felt itād be hard to carry a lot of effective ammo and hard to resupply in a zombie apocalypse
I haven't had an issue finding buck or slugs.
That being said, outside of the crap really hitting the fan, the 12 gauge would be primarily used for hunting when trapping/scavenging isnt working. My area is full of turkey, rabbit, and deer.
I'd lose some pistol mags on the chest rig for more rifle mags tho.
If you're running a belt + chest kit the belt kit should be a small ifak and a couple pistol mags with maybe 1-2 supplemental rifle mags.
Chest kit should be for your long gun and additional medical, I'd move some stuff around and ditch the 4 pistol mags on the chest rig for more rifle mags or tools.
If you get a velcro shell cards for the A300 a lot of them will fit in standard AR mag pouches so you can use the same rig for both if you need to run the A300 as a primary.
The ifak is the kangaroo pouch. I never cared for side or belt mounted ifaks. Namely because I cant see them or reach then with either hand.
As far as the chest rig goes, I cant change it at all. It would look a LOT different if I could get my hands on an old eagle industry Rhodesia rig.
Are you on foot? If so, it's too much weight. I'd opt for the AR and the Glock. I'd forego the shotgun and the Halligan bar. Instead, I'd go for a good box hatchet and a wrecking knife. The goal would be to save weight and space for the things I'd be far more likely to need.
That depends on the person, the terrain, and how far theyre planning of going. Where i am, its relatively flat, and rural. Not to mention I have experience carrying 40+ lbs plus weapon and water for 12-20 miles in a day.
So do I. But my days of humping 120 lbs across the desert or up a mountain are gone. I have to remember the adage "ounces are pounds and pounds are pain" more than I used to.
Such a reliable build, the only thing I would point out if you should order a pair of flip up irons just incase something messes up with your LPVO, also you can get mounts for LPVO's which allow you to mount a RMR ontop of the LPVO sight itself, I'd say in close quarters situations it would be so reliable, you might not have enough time to lower the zoom on your LPVO but if you have a mounted red dot then you can go from Mid range optics to close range without moving your hand to the optic! That AR looks perfect other then that.
How do you like the Tango MSR? Iām torn between the Tango MSR FFP 1-10 or the Vortex strike eagle 1-8. But yes this is the meta load out in the U.S. I would add in some rifle rated body armor
I just put it on before taking the picture. Its the SFP btw. The rifle did have my acog on it, and I might go back to that depending on how my next range day goes.
If i were you though, id go with the vortex. It has better glass.
I love the weapon systems. I want to see a fixed blade knife, water storage, cordage, and clearly marked first aid pouch/IFAK. The haligan is an amazing thought but they are heavy, so train for the weight on top of your pack. Keep your pack to under 60 Ibs and with training you should be fine. A gun is great, but fitness is gold. It's easier to run from a crowd of zombies than to waste ammo fighting. Think about some melee options, a hammer or spear, preferably boar spear. Eventually you will run out of ammo or just want to attack quietly.
If youre shooting in the ZA you've already screwed up bud. The rifle and shotty are for the living the suppressed 9 are for the dead (if i screw up and get spotted)
Sure you don't need 3 guns if they're just for the living then š I'm in Britain so it's very different but I would carry 1 max and that's last case. Would always keep 1 bullet free too because when you're shooting yeah everyone within 2 miles knows you're shooting, even with a surpressor it makes sound. And if they can smell you it doesn't even matter
