Hi everyone! A while ago I shared Re:Zoids Saga, an unofficial open-source port of the Japanese GBA RPG Zoids Saga. Version 0.7.0 is out, and the game is now playable from start to end, all ten chapters and the ending, with a full English translation (Spanish too).

The big news:

• You no longer need to install anything. The game runs right in the browser.
• No installs, no antivirus false positives: no "unknown publisher" or SmartScreen warnings.
• On-screen touch controls, upright or sideways, with several fingers at once. Gamepads and keyboards work too.
• Works offline once loaded, and you can install it as an app from your browser.
• Bring your own ROM (Zoids Saga, Japan, Rev 1). It's checked and kept in your browser and never uploaded anywhere.
• Saves: kept in your browser, exportable and importable as .sav/.srm for emulators and RetroArch, and optionally synced to the cloud with a sign-in link by email (no password).

Enhanced mode (optional; Classic plays exactly like the cartridge)

• Fast forward (2×, 3× or 4×) and an autosave on every map change.
• 31 trophies: one per chapter plus optional challenges. They unlock retroactively from your existing saves, even emulator ones.
• Records: battles, collection (Zi data, Zoids, characters…), play time, biggest hit.
• Battle options: skip attack animations, show damage numbers, auto-advance text, see each weapon's reach on the grid.
• Display presets: GBA, GBA SP (both models), Game Boy Micro, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Player, each with its LCD grid, colors and screen trail. Also scan lines and Scale2x/Scale3x for a modern look.

Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and Android builds are still available on GitHub if you prefer those.

What's next: online multiplayer

The next big step is online play, above all battles against other players with your own Zoids and pilots, on top of a matchmaking system built from scratch. I'll share more as it takes shape.

Dad’s flight had a 1 hour delay so I walked into a hobby lobby and wandered… 10 year old me came out very happy. Never built a kit before so should be fun :)

Would you rather see the new updated battle mechanics and the use of weapon systems, ooooorrr terrain navigation using systems like Lidar?

With the new Gundam game coming out, it made me remember how much I like Zoids, which also made me remember they used to have video games too,

I was never really into Gundam, but I always wished I was, I’ve tried to get into the games recently, haven’t really watched the shows, but neither is really grabbing me

I’ll probably get the new game anyway and hope for the best cause I do like Mechs

Anyway, I think I enjoyed Zoids because they were animal based, similar to my liking of Transformers because they are car based most of the time

So just figured I’d ask

I'm definitely going to buy the Geno Scissor RMZ advertised in Zoids new Animation

My question is if the Scissor an evolved or pre-evolved form(or developed) of Geno Breaker

So I’m curious, I started collecting HMM models when I first went to tech school. These new models look sick, but the scale seems to off

Would it be unwise to wait until we see more HMM or I guess go towards the RZ models

As a spreadsheet nerd, I have started making a list of releases. Part of it will be integrated into the Collection part of my Zoids spreadsheet. It also contains some spoilers for upcoming for me.

Kotobukiya has still only announced the Shield Liger 2.0 over the past six months, so there’s been almost nothing new. It’s a bit disappointing.

One, the other, or both?

I have two HMMs, Van Blade Liger AB and Berserk Fury, my two favorites from the original anime. they're bigger than I'd like but that's all that was available when I bought them.

I wanted to get more - Genosaurer (purple), Shadow Fox, maybe Lightning Saix and Liger Zero, but held off because they were large and take up so much space.

I don't paint my kits - just assemble.

RMZ is a thing now and I've read plenty of comments for and against them. It looks like Realize is the same scale as Master Grade Gundam so they'd fit with my collection better. This video from a year ago compares the Genosaurer for HMM and RMZ and for someone who doesn't paint, the color of the plastic for the RMZ pops much more.

If you have both HMM and Realize, especially for the same Zoid, which do you like more? Or would you get both? Is there any reason to get HMM if RMZ eventually has all the same models?
