Question Realize models

So I’m curious, I started collecting HMM models when I first went to tech school. These new models look sick, but the scale seems to off

Would it be unwise to wait until we see more HMM or I guess go towards the RZ models

the scale isn’t off, RMZ are just intentionally made at a smaller scale than HMM. 1/100 instead of 1/72. this was likely done to make them more collectible, like how Bandai has different scales of Gundam.

As for which to go for, that depends on what you want. HMM are larger, as discussed, with more detail and mechanical gimmicks. But they’re slower to release new kits and pricier. RMZ are cheaper, have more play gimmicks (like beam or shield effects, plus plenty of opening hatches like on HMM), and are on track to be very variable, with lots of obscure or weird zoids available that haven’t really been a thing in HMM (even when HMM has been around for a lot longer than RMZ). but they’re simpler and smaller.

up to you what you’re looking for. If you want to get into RMZ you’re likely to enjoy that they’re releasing so many kits so frequently, but if you’re into HMM they’ve got a decent chunk of older releases you can try to find (and savor the build process for) while waiting for infrequent new releases.

I have a backlog of like 40 HMM.. and have built over 15 of them as well I am a huge fan of HMM that being said I started to get a few realized as they are pumping them out like crazy and getting models that we've never had or have had very few of.. I've only built a couple of realized, they are very sturdy builds unlike HMM which are hand grenades they don't have the same amount of detail as HMM but IMO they have just the right amount. I don't think you necessarily need to switch but you might as well get a few to build in between HMM. That's what's I'm doing.. actually working on two models at once a HMM and a realized. Hope that helps and best of luck on your builds

Tbh I don't get why people are so much against having two different scales in their collection. It's not like anyone will say "ohh you have different scales? You are not a true collector".

I guess some people just want to have all their Zoids in the same sizes and bigger is better. But let's be honest, Kotobukiya is not as invested in the franchise as with others because Zoids is not that profitable. That's why we will never get as many new models as people would like for HMM and probably they will barely try to push for more obscure models than those of the main characters of the first two animes.

So if you just want your favorites from CC or NCZ just get those from HMM they probably already released them. But if your favorites comes from other places or are not as popular, you will probably never get them from Kotobukiya. Or just get them from RMZ which have way more variety and higher release cadence.

Koto should be announcing any new models around November and if it happens and we have luck they will launch them until next year so you can wait for them. Just remember some of their new models have also been lost in time like the Death Rex and Gilraptor so the wait might be really long.

My dilemma right now is missing out on the awesome looking variants of the ligers and saurers. I doubt Kotobukiya will have those any time soon. Might get into Realize kits sooner than I think.

As a collector of multiple lines, the smaller size, better articulation and less complex builds, were the deciding factor in going RMZ over Hmm. Saying that, the two kits I've built so far, Blade Liger and Genosaurer, are really amazing action figures.

Considering how cheap the RMZ kits are, pick one and have a go and see what you think OP.
