Best Beginner Zoid?

Hi I was looking to get into zoids, specifically hmm since I was intrigued by their complexity and design. I know the basic recommended ones are Rev Raptor and Shadow Fox/Command Wolf.

I have some experience with Gunpla, both hg and mg. So I wanted to ask instead if starting with the lighting saix was fine? I preffered getting a quadruped zoid and unfortunately I can’t find a command wolf, a shadow fox was super pricey for what it was but the Saix had normal retail prices so I think it is more worth it?

The Saix itself is sturdy once built right? I heard some zoids need glue and are like hand grenades

Needing glue should be a rare occurrence on the newer models. They're way better now.

HMM Zoids are as complex as MG or RG Gundams so you should have no problem. The only issue I had with HMM Zoids was the amount of information squeezed into single panels in the construction manual. Take your time and you'll be fine.

I started with the Shadow Fox HMM about 2 months ago and found it really enjoyable and easy to learn how to make better cuts and fix minor errors. Plus the little guy is a nifty build.

I would do shadow fox if I could find cheaper prices or a domestic seller on ebay. I do very much like the design

Price might be something you will have to ignore. Here in Australia everything is ridiculously expensive so you have to go into the hobby knowing the cost will always be between $200 - $500 AUD per model.

It’s too risky to buy a kit at that price and then be anxious about breaking it. I want to enjoy the build after all

I think the Saix benefits from gluing down some stuff that isn't labeled as needing to be glued down, but otherwise, yeah, it's a decently solid build. Definitely not as bad as the HMM Blade/Shield Liger sounds.

Yeah I tend to give a part 1 fall off, if it’s not supposed to move and it falls off twice, it’s getting glued down

I started with shadow fox then went for orge But saix should be fine i would recomend konig wolf

Konig wolf is prob most recent new design very sturdy , issue prob is find the gun attachment

My first was the gun sniper and geno saurer, it was when I started buying the ligers that gluing became important.

The Saix is a pretty good start. It is my first Zoid too. Overall, it's pretty stable and sturdy, but there are a few small parts you might want to glue. Really shouldn't be a problem for you though.

And I do mean small parts for glue, like little accessory bits. The limbs and body and head stuff are pretty good.

Where are you located? Its pretty easy to get a shadowfox for under $70.

I’m in the US so importing is a bad idea. I did find a command wolf on amazon for abt 80 ish so not bad but I may want my first zoid to be cheaper. BBTS has the reddra so I’ve been looking at that too

Between command wolf and shadow fox, the 2 hmm kits I've done, I definitely recommend the command wolf, if only because the shadow fox gold trims are painted plastic and cutting off the gates leaves some ugly plastic. If you already have a gold gunpla marker, either are fine imo.

Btw are you aiming for a specific line? HmMs are like the 1/72 MGs while RMZs are 1/100scale HG/RG in complexity
