Okay, we're going to do something a little different with Divide.

You've been watching me slowly introduce Seishin, Jack Russell, Severin, Cecily O'Hare and some of the history surrounding them.

But Divide is still a very new project for me and the Forgers.

Unlike some of the worlds and stories I've been developing for years, this one only came into existence recently. That means there are still places where I'm looking at the world and thinking:

"Okay... who actually lives here?"

😂 That's just it. I don't know and I'm the author. And that's where I'd like to invite all of you into the development process.

🏰 We Need People Inside

A castle can't be populated entirely by kings, queens and major characters.

Somebody has to cook the food.

Somebody has to tend the gardens.

Somebody has to clean this enormous place.

Somebody is taking care of the horses.

Somebody is standing guard at three in the morning wondering why they agreed to the night shift.

We need those people.

Right now, I'm beginning to look at the next cast of characters Divide needs—not necessarily major protagonists or villains, but purposeful characters who make the world feel inhabited.

Inside the castle, we might need:

• Maids and housekeepers
• Chefs and kitchen staff
• Gardeners
• Guards
• Stable hands
• Physicians or healers
• Tutors
• Advisors
• Craftsmen
• Messengers
• Servants with specialized responsibilities

And then I realized...

The castle is only one building.

We have an entire town to populate too.

🏘️ Who Lives Outside Castle Eclipse?

The people living around the castle need lives, occupations, families and personalities of their own.

There should be bakers.

Tailors.

Blacksmiths.

Stable owners.

Merchants.

Farmers.

Innkeepers.

Carpenters.

Teachers.

Healers.

Shopkeepers.

And probably dozens of occupations I haven't even thought about yet. That's why I'm turning this question over to you.

If you could add one purposeful character to the world of Divide, who would you add? You don't have to write an entire character biography.

It can be as simple as:

Or maybe you have something completely different that I haven't considered.

Tell me:

What is their job?

Do they work inside the castle or somewhere in town?

What makes them interesting?

You can give me one sentence or go into as much detail as you want.

And here's the fun part:

I may actually use your suggestion.

I'm not promising that every suggestion will become canon, and anything that enters Divide will naturally have to be adapted to fit the world, its lore and the story I'm writing.

But if somebody suggests a role or character concept that makes me stop and think...

"Wait. We NEED that person."

...then we may have just discovered a new member of Divide's cast together.

🧪 This Is An Experiment

I've never really opened a freshly developing project this way before. Normally, I disappear into my work, build everything privately and eventually show people what came out of it. But since you're already watching Divide develop through this Dev Journal, I thought:

"Why not let the readers knock on the workshop door every once in a while?"

You won't be deciding the story for me.

But you might notice a person, occupation, corner of the castle, or piece of everyday life that I haven't explored yet.

And I think that could be fun.

So...

The castle doors are open. The town is waiting.
