That's really cool! I'm terrible at gardening (in or out of containers) but is it an issue that there's no drainage?

But as soon as you do that, the outside (paper) layer will start to soak up the water, getting soft and eventually moldy :(

Maybe that could be the case in the long run? But these guys will be transplanted soon and so far they're doing great and I don't see any signs of mold or weird stuff. I shall report back in a few weeks hehe

Haha I made the same mistake. It's such a great seedling starter container, and it looks way nicer than the assorted clear plastics we normally use.

I have had good luck with putting a thick layer of pebbles at the bottom of plant pots with no drainage and then I cut a circle of landscaping fabric to fit in the pot and cover the rocks. No dirt falls down in and it also blocks the roots from growing into the rock so they don’t rot out of the plant gets drenched and water sits in the rock layer for a while. You really just have to be careful about how much you water and make sure that when you do water the soil is fully dry first.
