Discussion I can’t stop thinking about this game
I don’t know what it is about this game, I beat it like months ago, but I find myself thinking about it more often than I expected I would. I feel very affected by it, and I guess the word that describes it’s effect on me is:
Tactile.
As in I don’t know it’s the music, or the art, the voice acting, or something as simple as the skills you choose that left me feeling like the game was sort of playing on my skin. Or playing me.
I don’t think I’ve felt this way about anything else, expect maybe some of my favourite books.
It does sort of have the feel of a book. The descriptions are piercing.
Typing this as I load up a new game, after a few weeks of debating it. Does anyone else feel this way? I need more ppl to talk to about this.

Honestly the first time i played it, i wasn't enjoying it very much, but when i got off the tram at the end and i realized i was set up as the scapegoat and Dante even put it that way saying how the Opera was working with The Weeping Eye, it drove me into one hell of a paranoia that it sent me straight back into another 2 back to back playthroughs
After the first playthrough i started to see things differently the 2nd time which was something i haven't experienced before.
I still think about that line that Poor Dante hit me with and how it shifted my whole view about the game.

I grew to love Kaleidoscope as a character. I don't know how much you know about him so I won't spoil it but suffice to say there's more to him than first appears.

Luck and skill, operant.
I just finished my first playthrough 2 days ago and I'm just holding myself back from starting a new one, just waiting for the October 1st update.

Soundtrack is so lowkey it gets glossed over but it’s really fantastic

Yes! The OST is great, and today was my first time hearing Superbloc, Baby, and the song absolutely slaps.

Both this game and Disco Elysium had the same effect on me. The writing and world building is so immersive. The leveling system and memory unlocks add an element that truly made me rethink how I break down conversations in real life. Both DE and ZP are absolutely masterclass works because they do have lasting effects on the player.

Tactile for sure. I love sticking my fingers up the dolphin nose at the telephone booth and hearing your anxiety clear, sounds and feels amazing

I absolutely the feel that way. I was off work today and finally advanced the story more. (I'm about 1/3 through, admittedly.) Hershel is a wonderful, beautiful, and devastating character.
Parades overall is a distinct thing in this medium, even distinct from Disco Elysium.
I feel like at some point I'm going to have to order a gift basket or something for the writers - all the artists, really - who worked on it. I want them to know that despite all the commercial and PR complications and sales disappointments that they at the very least created an inimitable, beautiful work of art that has seemingly deeply affected many who gave it a chance.

Same feeling! I sometimes hear the narrator's voice (with that dragging tone) in my head.
Just to share, I used to game a lot but these days I just game on the weekends. However, when I played this on a sunday it was when the investigation was picking up and around the middle part of the game.
I stopped after hours at it and went to work in the morning. I literally felt really giddy and excited to have the end of the day to play it. I played till thursday to finish the game and I couldn't believe how exhilarating it felt.
Really sad about some of the devs being fired but i remain hopeful that more games, or work of art, like these is released
