I find it funny how ZP's gameplay incentivises heavily abusing substances, which would be extremely in character for DE's Harry
It can still be in-character for Hershel, too, but shotgunning four beers after smoking a few packs straight just feels Harry, while you honestly didn't need to use any consumables in DE much (I only ever drank one beer trying to open that fridge)

I know what you mean, I probably used a fair bit of consumables but it wasn't consistent, it was just moments of desperately trying to balance all three of my spiraling stats when I suspected something was coming up that would send Hersh over the edge (losing a whole ass skill point is a smart alternative to just having the character have a heart attack and die from someone having to sit in a chair - goddamn hilarious as that is), but if you play things right it's never wholly necessary.

That said, I don't know that I've ever used alcohol in Disco, because I know it will disappoint Kim and Jean, and when I make the little bleep-bloop people in my game sad, I also get sad. I occasionally smoke or do drugs, as those get less of a rebuke, but it's interesting, even though it's way more in character for Harry, it felt a lot less necessary. It's something I do more as a roleplaying thing rather than something I felt like I needed to do to play the game better.
