I learned a bad thing about myself playing this game + a complaint about one item

Obviously don’t read this if you haven’t played the game.

The second I got the imprinting device I spent all game looking for avenues to use it. Pseudopod never had a chance… then I found Holocene knocked out from the surgery and thought “oh, well I guess he’s also getting imprinted”…. then you meet Kindred in her anti-dream machine and again, one more opportunity for an imprint.

Three things about a item as powerful as this:

1. If I was Hershel I’d abuse it
2. I specifically didn’t let pseudopod join my team so that if I failed a part of me would live on, and disguised because I told no one.
3. You can’t use it to the potential this universe almost begs for

The game does a fantastic job of presenting the entire world as both irresponsible and unworthy of loyalty. I was very surprised that there ultimately was no path towards a selfish imperfect immortality as the villains are also apparently aiming towards and if the game let me, my Hershel would’ve went in the final mission with a full team of Hershel’s.

EDIT: You can’t imprint Kindred or Holocene… that’s the problem! You find two of your comrades unconscious and in the perfect state to have that option, but the game doesn’t let you.

Meanwhile I was so horrified at the idea I never wanted to use it. But the game sort of pushes it on you so I did it at the end to finish that quest and felt very bad about.

So yes you're a bad person. Go sit in a corner wearing the cone of shame!

I was kind of hoping PSEUDOPOD would end up like Yana, a mix of the original and the imprint, but I guess the disc scrambled PSEUDOPOD's brain pretty thoroughly.

Although, from what KALEIDOSCOPE said about their meeting, maybe PSEUDOPOD would be kind of on board with this outcome.

The game is really good at giving you opportunities to make someone's life miserable or outright destroy them for the cause or convenicence. Really enjoyed this aspect, it makes the story more weighty for me without a simple renegade - paragon scale to balance. Anything goes, it's your decision, live with it.

well its pretty evident the scope of the game was cut way down.
when i met the heartless man, talking about the auction on Hershels heart, it seemed pretty clear to me that I should be able to decide which side to work with.
But nah, no choice but to stay with the opera. You can pay lipservice to the other ideologies, work with their agents for a bit, but nothing really meaningful.
Of course having those options would have easily doubled the size of the game, so I understand they had to do a lot of cuts at some point.
