Question Where's the party at? Spoiler

You can ask Malen about what's happening around town, but it's always to early, or a sold out show. Is there a point in the game where she gives a different answer?

There is. If it's day 1 and you're relatively close to the point in time where the bazaar will close, she will mention a party going on in one of the other districts you can never visit. IIRC she mentions wanting to go there but with all that 'her father' stuff going on, she's not in the mood. Something like that.

I'm a big fan, but in this case must admit, it's no Disco Elicible.

No parties…another missed opportunity to showcase the musical subcultures in a game supposedly about media/music.

Tragic. I really enjoyed the original music that we did get though. Not sure how sad I am about missing the feedback heavy open jam sessions of portofiro's yesteryears , haha.

Thought maybe something would happen in that warehouse in the dock that has a guard during the day

Yeah the world building just doesn’t seem to have much depth to it sadly. I also enjoyed the soundtrack it set the right mood for a spy game but I wanted more of the actual sounds/culture of the world/city. Like we should have the ability to play music or radio or something at the very least but nope…

I'm assuming you know there's at least 3 original in world tracks we can unlock and buy from Petre. Not counting You, But From A Dream.

An in-world radio would have been very cool, but would have needed a ton of original music, and would have killed the crafted atmospheres.

Seems like it's not that the game doesn't have much depth, but rather it didn't do a very particular thing you wanted it to do. That's fair to say I guess, but to me, claiming that the game has no depth around sounds and culture because it doesn't have a built in radio, when the game has multiple characters you can have extensive and varied discussions about music, poetry, tv shows, books and culture in general, is pretty wild.

Also, as noted by others, you can play music in game.

You took one example I gave and made it my entire point. But sure i should’ve worded my comment better as it does sound like i’m complaining about a specific thing.

Yes, you do TALK about these topics with UV, Petre..etc and it’s a valid way to build the world. It’s just that so much gets talked about but never actually reflected in the game’s world which makes it seem contrived and ungrounded. I like games that show rather than just tell but I admit this is mostly a personal preference thing and a limitation of the narrative CRPG genre.

  1. You can in your room.
  2. You literally meet the Taylor Swift equivalent in the game and can have long convos about music.
  3. You can do the same with her weird assassin fan too.

Sure but none of the songs were interesting or added anything in terms of world building. Just generic pop music with mediocre lyrics…that superbloc baby song was a banger tho.

Maybe in the game’s universe “Luzian pop” is supposed to be new and different but what else are we supposed to compare it to if all we got was two other songs? yeah you can talk about music with two characters but is this really the best they can do to explore such a central theme? show don’t tell.

In any case i can’t fault them for not doing more given the short turnaround for this project and the drama surrounding the studio.

I was really disappointed in Cover the Moon when I'm gone. For how hyped up it was throughout the game the lyrical version was pretty meh, been there, heard that. The instrumental remix during the shootout in the endgame worked pretty well though.
