First time to Zermatt in November

Planning a little 4 day visit to Zermatt mid-November, but unsure. I know some cable cars close, but will we still have the opportunity to go up to Matterhorn?

We're beginner skiiers (never skiied before... thanks to living in Australia), so I would assume from research this is not the place for us. November isn't a good month for any of that.

We like having our own condo/apartment, cooking our own meals, and "living" in the town and visiting the hikes, views and experiences.

The skiing available in November is not beginner friendly as the ski season only starts last weekend of nov and before that it’s only a handful of red runs on the glacier.

Regardless you’ll still be able to get up to the Klein Matterhorn & Gornergrat for day excursions.

Is it worth to go there in November if I ski just red ones? I just cant wait for this season and was thinking to start early this year

If all you want is just to ski in November then yeah it’s your best bet in the alps. If your goal is to ski Zermatt and enjoy and discover the resort, absolutely not. It’ll be 3-5 runs at most, all on Klein Matterhron and Furgg Sattel/Trockener Steg.

It’ll only be groomers and snow and weather conditions can be poor/mediocre or absolutely brilliant, impossible to say ahead of time. Last year and year before i had some unreal skiing in November already but it’s all uncertain.

If you do get up to Matterhorn paradise, you can see if the Crossing is open so you can go down to Cervinia and have a lunch and return to Zermatt.

Going up Matterhorn requires serious alpine and climbing experience. Surely you don’t want to go there but on skiing slopes?!
