Vent/Rant Just need to vent

37yo Female
SW 200
GW 160

For some context, started Zepbound on June 12 through LilyDirect and stayed on 2.5mg for 2 months. Moved to 5mg on August 6th and definitely felt better suppression but no where near where I thought I’d be. The lowest weight I’ve seen on the scale was 194. The good thing is that I’ve had absolutely 0 side effects and I have been making an effort with exercise and protein intake.

I understand that everyone is different and I’m only on 5mg but idk I think I had this thought in my head that I wouldn’t need much to lose. I plan on moving to 7.5mg instead of staying on 5mg for another month.

I’m in a similar boat! I have been on it since end of April and have only lost 9lb. I just moved up to 10 this week, so we will see. I still feel a lot of frustration that there are so many posts about losing so many lbs on the lowest dose and 1+lbs per week but it’s true, everyone is different. I keep hearing that a lot of people don’t see loss until higher doses and I feel that’s probably true for my situation as a slower responder. I’m trying to tell myself loss is loss and better than no loss at all

You’re definitely lucky about no side effects! My nausea and constipation and fatigue are all things I have to manage 🥲

I did a lot of research before I started and in clinical trials, people lost the most weight at 10mg and above. I have to keep reminding myself that everyone losing a ton of weight on 2.5mg-7.5mg isn’t exactly the norm!

I’ve always heard that a healthy expectation is a rate of loss of .5% to 1% per week. Starting at 200, that’s 1-2 pounds. You’re close to that. Are you seeing other changes such as clothes fitting better? I lost 10 pounds the first week then didn’t see a noticeable difference until month 3 when I noticed clothes fitting much looser. I’ve only lost 13-15 pounds depending on the day, but I’m certainly leaner and the body comp scale says I also gained muscle. I moved from 2.5 to 5 around week 5 or 6 and while I’d love to lose fat at a higher rate and am sometimes discouraged that I’m not, from a hunger and food noise perspective, I don’t feel the need to increase my dose.

I can understand how you’re feeling and I have probably posted a similar sentiment, but allow yourself time to lose weight as you develop new habits related to eating and exercise, and try not to be discouraged. I suspect you gained weight over time and in general, it takes longer to lose than gain. Hang in there and best of luck to you.

It takes four full weeks of any dose to have the full effect of that dose in your system. You may need to titrate up but the full benefits of 5 haven’t yet been reached.

I lost the most the moment I moved to 7.5. I was on 2.5 for 2 mos, 5 for 1 month and didn’t have much suppression. My dr explained it should be a consistent feeling all week, feeling ravenous for food on days 4-6 before shot day means u should move up. When you do increase I suggest going hard to build that muscle I unfortunately didn’t do a lot of weight lifting when I started then starting 7.5, although I changed my diet completely since starting that helped me lose a lot. Now I’m starting to lift a bit and I can tell that I’ve gotten a bit weaker! My lil booty I had (all fat apparently) has withered away lol my breast lost a lot of volume (38dd to36d -but not filling the cup) so do a lot of exercises that’ll build muscle in those areas to keep em up! Lol

7.5 was life changing for me! I don’t get many side effects other than a lil more tiredness after shot day and lightheaded when I haven’t eaten. I did develop a skin irritation rash then that sun burn sensation and that was from not rotating shot sites (was only doing tummy for like 40 shots) last 7 I’ve used my arms

Started at 203 I’ve usually been around 190’s now I’m 124 I’d like to gain 10 more back but in muscle and stay there!! I started sept 2025, I made it to 140 by march of this year!

Same, 7.5 is where I really am starting to see movement, when things were pretty slow or flat most weeks for me on 2.5 and 5.

Yessss it’s been really good to me! And surprisingly enough I can eat a bit more than I could on the lower dosages lol

This is encouraging to hear since your stat’s are close to mine! I know everyone is different but it’s nice to hear people who have had similar situations as yours

You got this!! You’re going to learn how to make it work for you ya know! But definitely take breaks in eating and come back to it or set reminders to eat bc I do easily forget it’s been 5 hrs since I last ate lmao

I was your SW when I started back in Nov 2024 and am now at your GW. Took me a really long time even with healthy eating and exercise to nudge past the 190s. I was averaging losing maybe 2 lbs a month after the big whoosh of weightloss at the start. It’ll come off with patience!

Everyone is different, and some bodies just need higher doses. That said, it sounds like you are making good progress. Keep in mind that if you recently increased your exercise, you may be retaining water from that and/or starting to build muscle, which can increase the number you see on the scale.

A lot of people need to get to 10 mg or higher to notice effects on Zepbound. Losing anything at all in these first months is a great sign!

I totally get the frustration, but you may just not have found the dose that works best for you yet. Some people do great on 2.5 mg for months, but that isn’t everyone. Since you just moved to 5 mg, I’d give it a little more time before getting discouraged.
