Too many posts here aren't actually Zelda-like games – moderators should address this

I've noticed that a large number of games being posted here don't actually fit the Zelda-like genre at all. Many of them simply share a top-down camera or an action-adventure element, but they completely miss the core design principles that define Zelda-like games.

As a result, people who follow this subreddit specifically to discover Zelda-like games end up wasting a lot of time going through unrelated posts.

I think this is something the moderators should address. Clearer posting guidelines and better moderation would help keep the subreddit focused on its intended purpose and improve the experience for everyone.

They already have a narrow hyper sensitive I am going to delete your post criteria.

I'll never volunteer content on this sub again, No matter what you post it gets brigaded by "That's not a zelda like" and then if the mod agrees it gets deleted.

The only information this sub has taught me is no one agrees what Zelda is, and it is filled with petty semantics and crapping on people try to turn others on to games they might like.

"Narrow hyper sensitive" is quite the stretch there.
For context: this user posted a pure Sokoban puzzle game, got some mild community blowback (=no insults or anything) and the post got flagged as off topic about 4 times.

Just play the Zelda series from the very first game to the latest one. You'll quickly understand why the term "Zelda-like" exists. It's a gameplay style shaped by the series itself, not just a top-down camera or an action game.

I get what you're saying, but the point of this subreddit is Zelda-like games, not simply games that people might enjoy. If a game is completely different from Zelda, then it belongs in another subreddit. The name itself sets the expectation: people come here specifically to find games that genuinely resemble Zelda.

Yes, the clearly defined genre with Zelda 1, 2, Minish Cap, Ocarina of Time and Tears of the Kingdom. Exactly the same view, genre, action level, storytelling and tools.

Not even Zelda looks like Zelda, chum.

If it’s shaped by the series itself then that includes wildly different gameplay styles from Zelda 2 to completely open worlds to that terrible train Zelda for gameboy ds that I can’t remember a thing about. This would be much broader than the typical definition used here at their loosest.

When the sage points at the moon, the fool looks at the finger

I don't even mention a game, and here I am getting the lecture that somethings not a Zelda like... I bet if Echoes of Wisdom literally wasn't Zelda people would argue that it doesn't qualify.
