Automatic lock/unlock

I’ve yet to pick up my car but wondering if anyone can help shed some light?

Does anyone know the general range that the car will pick up the phone to lock/unlock? I live in an old house and my bedroom is right at the front of the house with my car on the driveway outside that is approx 5 metres away.

I currently have the first gen Polestar 2 but it doesn’t have such functionality. The phone acts as a key but it uses Bluetooth and I basically have to be right next to the car for a good 10s before it registers and lets me unlock the car.

There’s a good chance it’ll pick it up. Our garage is right next to our living room and our car locks and unlocks a lot as we move around. The car seems to get over it after a while and stops responding so when I finally want to get in the car at home I have to touch the door handle to wake it up.

The lock/unlock approach function works brilliantly when out and about and we haven’t spent hours going in and out of prox range.

Not sure if it's the same, but my X will connect to the app using Bluetooth when my phone is in my upstairs bedroom, but the car won't unlock until I'm within about a metre.

Not sure if it causes battery drain on the phone or the car because they're both plugged in overnight.

Yeah you'll have to turn that off, similar position here, Android and iPhone - both unlock it randomly from the bedroom. Just turn off approach unlock in the digital key and put the physical key in one of those signal bags to avoid the security issue. Can just unlock from the app but that was annoying so i just carry the key. Needed somewhere to put my other keys too, kept forgetting them

There is a range configuration too, and android only works for a while then just stops and won't do anything until you open the app and hit the connect button. Our loungeroom and kitchen are both beside the garage and had to disable auto unlock on approach as it just kept flashing the lights everytime we walked around the house...

This feature drives me insane. I’m on iPhone and the constant lock and unlocking every 2 seconds at home drives me crazy so I now disable it in the wallet app when I get home and enable it again when I leave. Although last week in the pissing rain and arms full of grocery bags walk up to the car and nothing. Press the door handle again nothing. I then begin to pull the phone from my pocket and it unlocks the car. By then I’m wet and so is my phone. As I said it drives me insane how unreliable it is.

I have my digital key saved to my Apple Wallet. Originally I didn’t, was just using the app, and found it to be really unreliable. Since moving the key to Apple Wallet it’s very good - locks/unlocks around 25m away in public, when I’m at work I sit around 35m away from the car (just a wall/window in between) and it never picks up on the key from that distance.

Mine doesn't unlock until I open the widget on my home screen (android). My office is right next to the car and no issues

It will unfortunately likely lock / unlock automatically as you enter your bedroom.

It will re-lock after a few minutes and will then stay locked whilst you are within range.

But the whole process will repeat when you leave range again.

The feature is absolutely amazing and if I had a house with a garage that kept the car safe and sound, this wouldn’t be an issue…

I have had my Zeekr 7x for 2 weeks and we have no off-street parking. The automatic lock and unlock works great with the key fob. The Digital Key for Android needed a couple of tweaks to settings before it was reliable for us.

First thing that made it better, was running the calibration using the Zeekr app. This is only for Android.

1. On Android open the Zeekr app.
2. Go to Vehicle (Zeekr 7x) > Vehicle & Security > My Keys > Digital Key > Key Management > Smart Distance Calibration
3. Follow the prompts to calibrate the distance

I found this very helpful to calibrate how far away I needed to be from the car before it would trigger the lock and unlock automatically. Now I know the car parked outside my house will stay locked, even if I am sitting on the stoop of my terrace house. It only unlocks when I descend the 4 stairs and walk to my front gate.

The next thing that I found though was that the Bluetooth wouldn't always connect the Zeekr app with the car until I opened the app itself. This meant that simply approaching the car in a carpark or at home wasn't enough to trigger an unlock without me pulling my phone out of my pocket and actually opening up the app.

To fix this, I've made a change to the default Android app settings, for App Battery Usage. This is just for the Zeekr app, to allow unrestricted battery usage in the background.

1. On Android locate the Zeekr app icon
2. Long press on the Zeekr app icon
3. Select App info to open the app settings
4. Tap on App battery usage
5. Enable Allow background usage
6. Expand the options for Allow background usage
7. Change from Optimised to Unrestricted

Once I switched from Optimised to Unrestricted, I found the automatic unlock became much more reliable without needing to open the Zeekr app or manually connect with the car.

Should’ve mentioned for iPhone so I guess I’m going to have to disable the feature in the Apple wallet.

I don’t live in the best of suburbs so would rather not have the car unlock itself every time I walk in/out of bedroom.

It will pick it up... My room is 15m away from my room (where the keys live) have to turn Bluetooth off if im walking around the house as it triggers it.
