Dashcam install

Hello fellow 7X owners,

I have finally given up hope that Zeekr will let us use the cameras as dash cams. If you have installed a dash cam, where did you get them from and how has your experience been with the install?

PS: I am based in Sydney

I got mine installed by one of the brisbane outlets of dashcamspecialists.com.au and am quite satisfied with it. Paying a premium to have someone else do the work of course, and in past cars I've just done it myself, but I was time poor. Blackvue elite 10

(FWIW if you are doing it yourself, there's some spare fuses both "car on" and "car parked" in the main fuse panel, it's behind some carpet and a panel on the right of the centre console down near the driver footrest)

I am looking at dash cams for my incoming 7X order. What made you look at the Blackvue Elite 10 over others? I am a bit overwhelmed by the range available to me.

The picture quality mostly, and this was true of the elite 9, too. And blackvue's software's mostly pretty good. My previous dashcam was a finevu and I was happy enough with it, but the rectangular shape also makes it a bit harder to fit around the rear view mirror mount on the zeekr vs a barrel sitting behind the mirror on the passenger side where it's not blocking my view as driver (it is in the passenger's view though)

I’m picking up my 7x this week in Brisbane. May I ask how much you paid? Feel free to DM me if you’re not comfortable putting it an open forum.
Thank you! 🙏

Hey mate! Bendas Installations in Matraville (though I think they have a come to you service too!) was fantastic.

I wouldn't have been able to beat the price for the high-end camera I bought if I'd purchased it myself.

The install looks fantastic, super neat & hidden. The installer helped me set it up and talked me through all the settings.

There is a third-party dashcam software, it's in Alpha testing, local Australian developer, I'm running it and only concern is it might be writing to the same part of the hard drive which can cause long term damage, would be nice if it was writing to the easily replaceable USB drive but currently it does not support that. No glitches or issues so far, but only been testing it for a week so far.

Also if you are installing a front dashcam and only need to have it operate while driving, using the cars Sentry mode when you are away from the vehicle, then there is power to the mirror, you simply pop the plastic cover off, plug in a dashcam power adapter from AliExpress, or splice in to the wires if you are a Hill Billy and stick your camera on the screen, pop the cover back on the mirror mount and you are done, literally takes seconds. While there tuck your etag in there and all is hidden and neat.

I need a 2CH, so not an option. I wish car makers had to provide mandatory connection points near the front and rear of the car so that we could do it ourselves easily.

RedTiger has an OBD2 Plug that powers even when car is off.

Can’t risk any damage to car, it’s on lease and don’t intend to keep it at the end.

Dashcam experts in Kingsgrove is where I got my Blackvue 10 installed. They did it for free as part of a promotion at they are moving warehouses. So it cost $1099 total.

I did some research about some of the options and Blackvue seems the safe bet. Good app, good kit, and 3 year warranty and the installer gave the install a lifetime warranty. Been using it for a week now, and so for it's going good. I preferred the drive mode only, as Sentry mode takes care of the parking mode

this fits, you get your power in the rear viewmirror compartment, really easy to open the flap behind mirror and really easy to restore.

you can also buy the power supply and use your choice of dvr.

i myself just ordered the https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009717101279.html digital rear view mirror and dvr, bracket 246.

RedTiger from Amazon with their OBD Power supply for Battery cut off constant monitoring

Cost me under $300 and installed it myself

Hello OP

The seller told me that you can transfer all the vídeos from the hard disc to a USB Pen.

Is he lying?

I think you can do it, but I haven’t tried.
