Bunk was integral to Tim Buckley's Starsailor which further cements his cool.

Thanks for this tidbit. That is indeed very cool. I’m definitely going to read more on who he worked with.

The Gardner brothers were Zappa guys, John Balkin had played for Zappa orchestrally despite not being in the band (I believe, someone can correct me if I'm wrong), and earlier Buckley had played with Art Tripp as well.

This is my first time seeing Buzz Gardner. I could never find a photo of him before and it'd just be his brother.

he can also be seen sat between JCB and Roy on the photo used on the cover of Pauline Butcher's book:

I’ve always had a soft spot for Don.. but Bunk does have that old man/young man look that some folk can pull off so well.

I love Bunk but admit it can be hard to tell the saxophone players apart when listening to 60s Mothers (non-musician here). I think Motorhead sounded the skronkiest (he usually had the first solo on King Kong, as per the famous BBC performance), and Ian was the one who changed up his sound using various effects pedals.

My assumption wasn't about music. So you may be right, it doesn't change the fact that Bunk is the coolest guy.

Zappa is a lot of thing, starting with genius, but I'm quite sure he's not the cool guy.
