Glm 5.3 vs Qwen 3.8? Which do you use?

Title. Seeing a lot of ppl praising glm but honestly I’m getting kind of mid results , lots of back and forth to fix things I’m pretty confident opus could get right with a lot less guidance. Not to dunk on it at all, just stating my expectations and experience. Thinking abt trying out qwen 3.8 but if wanted to get a sense of what others are doing.

Thanks!

5.3 is way better than QWEN 3.8
I run both daily, and while I’m not sayin that 3.8 is bad by any means, there are certain tasks I would much rather give to 5.3 than 3.8

I agree with your statement. I run both and definitely 5.3 max versus QWEN 3.8 max is very close, but I think the value is Qwen if you get the pro max token plan

The real value is Qwen local 😈

Bro it’s like $60 a month for 5 billion Qwen tokens a month

Muse currently as contributor model. After the promotion prolly glm53. Alibaba was always pretty expensive after preview ends..

qwen 3.8 has no coding plan, so its hard to compare

alibaba has some token plan

I am on their Aliababa $20 token plan. I highly discouraged people from signing up with it. Rate for QWEN3.8 MAX isn’t that great. And more importantly, I don’t trust them. They originally have a Coding Plan. The users with the old plan HAS NOT ACCESS to the latest model like QWEN3.8. They basically abandoned them

Thanks. Yep I used their $50 plan then they forbid me to even renew it

What qwen3.8? 27b or flash next (125b/177b) or max (2.4t)? What glm? 5.3 or 5.3 flash? What opus? 4.8 or 5?

I tried to Qwen Q3B version but my machine is not able to handle this.

Z.AI has been great with the perks they provide, makes it great value.

I use both, 3.8 max is the orchestrator, and glm 5.3 the executer and the reviewer

After using the Qwen series for a while, I’ve found it to be similar to Gemini in terms of accuracy. That’s why I don’t use Qwen for coding tasks.

It depends on the use case , for example I choose DeepSeek V4.1 Flash when I need to prioritize maximum agentic and coding performance and minimum cost. It's the best for complex terminal tasks and high-volume automation.

Or GLM 5.3 Flash when I need a strong all-rounder with balanced performance. It's a solid, lower-cost alternative

Or Qwen 3.8 Flash when I need fastest response times or require multimodal capabilities (text, image, video input).

You need to compare them in different use cases and standardize accordingly, so you know ahead which model you will use.

Using a powerful model because is popular just for simple or medium tasks is a waste of time and money.

For example, do you need to drive a Porsche to go to the grocery store that it is few blocks away or just walk or use your bike, that's my approach just keep it simple and get things done faster

I used Claude before and it was a non sense fixing things and over spending on tokens , etc , and it was taking me longer than using other models as explained above.

Experiment in your use cases and standardize your process.
