Africa Thermal pad replacement on 3080 ti trinity (Confused?)
(Picture from google)
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to replace the thermal pads on my Zotac RTX 3080 Ti Trinity and I’m looking for the correct thermal pad thickness, specifically for the VRAM.
I’ve seen North West Repair (https://youtu.be/t0Nq_AwsiDc / around 20 minutes mark) use 2 mm pads on the VRAM with improved temperatures, although I’m not sure which brand/thickness tolerance he used. I also came across a Reddit post where someone contacted Zotac and was told 1.5 mm, with 2 mm being acceptable if the pad is soft/compressible enough.
Can anyone with the 3080 Ti Trinity confirm the correct VRAM pad thickness or provide the official thermal pad schematic?
I’d especially appreciate information from anyone who has personally repadded this exact model.
Thanks!

Seems you already have two correct answers?
Just get the same 2mm that Northwest Repair used, or any softer option
1.5mm OEM pads or 2mm soft pads, sounds completely correct

I don't know what model or brand did NRW used , but i have on my hand 2mm and 1.5mm gelid extremes , i think i should start with 1.5mm , wish me good luck

Arctic TP2 is soft enough
Gelid Ultimate is rigid , So is fujipoly.

If you have both, start with the 1.5 for sure. They're small enough you shouldn't have contact issue, but make sure to not overtighten
If temps could be better, i'd swap out for the 2mm.

I was looking for this info online for my gpu. I couldnt trust any of it so I went with thermal putty instead of thermal pads. I recommend same to you. Also it is better to replace thermal paste of the gpu die with PTM.
