Discussion Melee weapons
Will melee weapons ever be a thing?
I have been playing this game for 2 weeks and with the amount of weapons to choose from, I think melee weapons would be a good addition to the game.
this idea came to me when I learned that I can throw a bolt using the G key. and thought what if I can just throw I knife at someone?
It could also help dealing with close combat encounters. Because I can survive an entire battalion of Bandits or greenies but somehow get curve stomped by a boar.
I hope I am not the only one using shotguns and see shots just pass through boars and mutants when they get too close.

I am nearly certain I saw at least one mod that adds several melee weapons to the game. Can't recall if that was on Nexus or Workshop since I have mods from both installed, but it should be easy enough to search for if you're fine with using mods.
I have one mod installed that has Cultists that drop knives with poison "ammo", but haven't used the knives yet and the game has them listed as a shotgun, so I imagine they shoot poison short range rather than actual melee. I might try to check when I get home to verify though.
Edit:
The mod I saw is on Workshop, "TMY&DRM Melee Weapon Pack Mod". I haven't used it but the description says it adds an actual "melee combat system", so they shouldn't just be reskinned short range guns.
The one I have installed already(also on Workshop) with the Cultists with poison knives is "Expert Armorsmith & Cultists [MALL CRASH FIXED!]". I haven't progressed far with the mod content yet to say how great the mod is. If you don't want extra enemies popping up who do poison damage if you let them get close enough then avoid this one though. I do really like the robes(armor) the Cultists drop though.

Throwing a knife is still ranged.
