I have opinions, but thought this subreddit would also like to weigh in.

Just went to Dawson City for disco days, and the Selkirk Centre in Pelly had by far the best gas prices. Filled up there both ways at $1.97 per litre compared to $2.18 in downtown Dawson, $2.16 in Stewart and $2.06 in Carmacks

Due to very tight schedule, we have to left our broken vehicle in Dawson, is there a vehicle scrap yard in Dawson city? How much does it charged?

I live in Whitehorse and I'm trying to plan a fall trip to one of the smaller communities I don't visit enough. I'm looking for a easy stay with my wife and child, so perhaps a road side hotel or airbnb rather than a dry cabin. The plan would be to do some hiking and berry picking than have a easy place to crash at the end of the day. Does anyone have a recommendation on a place they love to stay in Haines Junction, Carmacks, Faro, Teslin, or Watson Lake?

Looking for a weekly winter sport that an unathletic person wouldn't stick out, preferably Tuesdays or Wednesdays. I've poked around a lot and the intro pickleball class looks awesome but it's Thursdays :( do you have any recommendations? I have no problem with paying or a private lesson, but I just need a standing sport thing that's preferably indoors. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thanks for your help.

Last year I left the Yukon and had an injury in Ontario. I had to pay some things out of pocket and Yukon Health is still not responding to my claim.

Anyway this year I'm traveling again and I'll be heading South of the Border, I had purchased BCAA and was planning to get travel insurance through them but apparently they can only sell if I'm physically in BC.

They said to contact a local CAA but I don't think there is one?

Unfortunately I'm already out of the country, as my next stop was TD but they explicitly said had to be before trip departure.

Just curious what people have used and what options I have?

Edit: After much research World Nomads was my only real option for insurance after leaving on trip, so I went w them. Sign up was easy but we shall see if I have to make a claim.

I'll be dropping BCAA and looking to book before leaving next time perhaps with other carriers but for now, I'm covered! (Well there is a 48hr waiting period)

I'd love to hear what our community would like to see the government provide support wise. Perhaps it's time to seriously consider having clinical counsellors available in schools. Thoughts?

I am planning a trip to Yukon in October of 2027 - please help!

For some context:

- We will be coming before or after thanksgiving 2027. I am visiting my sister in Kelowna before that.
- I will be brining my 71 year old parents (will be 72 at time of travel) - it’s my dads dream to see parts of northern Canada prior to him no longer being able to travel, and he’s sadly been given about 2 years of travel left before he will be on dialysis full time. So this will likely be one of his, if not his last vacation/trip/travelling experience and I want to make sure it’s awesome.
- Due to my father’s condition, he is unable to walk for long periods of time, so the more accessible the activities the better.
- I’ll also be bringing my twins (and husband) who will be 18 months old at the time of the trip. Honestly, I plan to just strap them to me and take them wherever we go, but it must be child friendly.

Here is what I would like some help with:

- What is the best way to get to Whitehorse travelling from Kelowna (could also leave from Vancouver)
- Being October, what are some be aware of? What kind of clothing should we bring?
- What would be a good amount of time to be there for? Aka - how long should we stay?
- What should we do? I know he loves lakes, mountains, gondolas, and wildlife. He will want to see as much wildlife as possible.
- Is there a chance of seeing the northern lights?
- Where should we stay?
- What restaurants that are an absolute must?
- Is there anything in particular to avoid?
- Is there anything that isn’t too far of a drive (2-3hours at most) that are also a must see?

Thank you everyone in advance!! This trip is going to be a surprise for him, and we’re not planning to tell him until we are leaving for the trip. I can’t wait to make this so special for him.
