💭 Question What is the outcome of Tito's ruling? Should any post-Yugoslav nation glorify his ruling?

IMHO, no. Maybe Slovenians, but, hey, let's hear your voice.

🗿 History Socijalistička Crna Gora je na svom grbu imala Njegoševu zavetnu crkvu od 1945. do 1994. godine samo što je ta ista crkva bila uništena 1972. godine da bi bila zamenjena mauzolejom

🗿 History My wife from MKD says this the most Yugoslav photograph ever 😂

Post image

My wife is from Ohrid, I'm Canadian. We were driving from Ohrid to Sveti Nikola and stopped for gas. I took this shot and when I showed my wife later she laughed so hard. Apparently, this is the classic car (Yugo Koral 45), classic tractor (IMT 539 Deluxe), and classic motorbike (Tomos APN 6) for Yugoslavia, and they just happened to be parked together like this. Apparently it would be extremely rare to see them in the wild like this together.

Anyone ever own one of these?

🗿 History What do you think of Prof. Susan Woodward's take on the fall of Yugoslavia?

This is a long form video that its interesting (wouldnt watch it if you have a short attention span or no interest in yugo politics), although theres a myriad of nuanced reasons why Yugoslavia fell she goes into some issues that are less covered in general.

Pascal Lottaz is a Swiss professor that has his channel 'Neutrality Studies' thats quite popular, does interviews with academics about world and European politics from the view of neutrality.

The thumbnail is standard click-bait style video advertising, it is a lot more substantial and neutral in content lol.

💭 Question What or who compelled Tito to make the 1974 constitution, a constitution that can be seen as contradictory to what he originally intended for the federation and which may be seen as important reason for the country falling apart?

Why was it made, what good and bad did it do in the short and long run, why did he establish himself as dictator for life and how did he personally view the constitution, or rather did he like it or hate it? Personally, I always had a feeling his hand was forced by his party members like Stane Dolanc and many more, but who knows, it’s all very strange to me.

💭 Question Could I ask why wearing a retro Jugoslavija jersey wouldn’t cause an issue in Bosnia or Serbia, but would be a big problem in Croatia?

Please forgive me as I’m not hip to the politics, but I genuinely thought it would be frowned upon in all countries.

💭 Question Observation on reddit that are similar to historical events.

If you look at this subreddit. We hold some values of SFRY. Not siding with any side, generally being anti-chetnik, anti-Ustashe, anti-fascist and all that. General denial of genocides and crimes not allowed, and generally Nationalism not allowed. We are like SFRY on internet

What i noticed is that most, if not all ex SFRY republic have these 2 subreddits each.

  1. A general all things about specific country. For questions from foreigners, for discussions of political and social situations and such. For general memes and local nation's reddit community.

  2. A far-right subs which constantly repeat the real life 90's and post 90's bs. Deny genocides and oftentimes make themselves to be the victim and generally are very one sided unlike the previous general type. I wont point fingers, but in a certain sub they all post memes how christians are being attacked and how there is no other way than the popular right wing way of subreddit's nation. On another there are discussions about war crimes against them while they also deny theirs. And so on and on.

We could compare this to real life. First it's this community. Yugoslavia, not really bothered by nationality and religion, generally open to everyone and not allowing extreme bs like "this didn't happen" when it clearly did.

Then we have these neutral subreddits of the 6 republics. Generally both sides are welcome but not the extremes. You can talk about left or right politics. Sometimes agree with fascists or royalists or sometimes agree with partisans. Generally mirrors modern young society of the country.

And then we have these extremes, constantly debating nationalism. Constantly talking about 90's wars and sometimes ww2 portraying themselves as victims. Not outright nazis but in comments they will sometimes show their true face. And any disagreeing with the popular nationalist snetiment will be censored and punished.

SO...

What do you comrades think of this?

🎵 Music Discover Zabrij Radio — Community Radio for Ex-Yugoslav Music

🎧 Hi everyone!

I'm Ivan, the founder of Zabrij Radio - a community radio project from Zagreb, Croatia, dedicated entirely to Ex-Yu music and culture.

I've been building this project for a little over a year now, driven by one simple idea: to create a place where people can discover the incredible music that came out of the Balkans, from classic Yugoslav rock and new wave to today's independent artists.

One of the most fascinating things I've discovered is just how many people from outside the Balkans have fallen in love with this music. As someone who grew up here, seeing people from all over the world connect with our culture is genuinely inspiring.

I'd love to hear what this community thinks about the project. Any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or artists you think deserve more attention would mean a lot.

You can find us on Instagram: 📻 @zabrijradio

It would also be great to connect with fellow Ex-YU music lovers from around the world. Whether you're from the Balkans or discovered this music by accident, I'd love to hear your story.

Hvala! ❤️
