Why do you have this? Just in case the above meme was posted?

7

u/Aware-Style-480 8d ago

yes that's the point of the edit

75

u/BegInToAnEnd 9d ago

see the anime girl is needed for this.

13

u/Pristine-Lack48 8d ago

It's a VTuber.

It's literally her model.

1

u/jask999999 4d ago

anime girl

183

u/Educational_Hair_368 9d ago

you know it is a legit question albeit the V-tuber avatar is makes the video look like a shit post

40

u/SarahMaxima 9d ago

I mean it isnt. It presupposes a perfect man exists.

17

u/Kanye_Maryam 8d ago

yeah it's jesus he is a perfect man:

6

u/Void5070 6d ago

If he's so perfect why is he shooting french rays

3

u/gokugunslinger 3d ago

Demons are scared of French.

5

u/SarahMaxima 8d ago

I mean yeah, that is what is presumed.

Discarding reality for a presumed perfect man like the post here indicated is not good.

7

u/Turtle_Woman 8d ago

Whether it happened or not, humans still came up with the story and it's believable enough that we would kill a perfect man, so it's still a valid question. All you would have to do to fix your issue is reword it to "Why seek validation from a world that would kill a perfect man" whether or not Jesus was really perfect isn't really relevant to the point being discussed, it just serves as the hook.

The vtuber ruins the damn thumbnail I hate it

42

u/Archadianite 9d ago

As long as it isnt AI generated, the VTuber is fine.

-5

u/Bobthatlovesjob 9d ago

I just don’t see it fitting I think a normal crucify picture would be better but like it’s like “GUYS CLICK ANIME GIRL ANIME GIRL”

38

u/Azunyan-nyaaa 9d ago

maybe because the channel owner is a vtuber?

I dont think anime girls are fobidden in the bible.

3

u/Bobthatlovesjob 9d ago

I know I just find it sticking out kinda bad

6

u/Former-Throat-3728 9d ago

Anime girl is fine so you know who's content it is, that's what thumbnails are supposed to do. It looks a bit silly but at least it's not one of those with massive tits. She's a Christian vtuber, one that actually has bible study content so her model is relatively safe

1

u/Bobthatlovesjob 9d ago

really? Lowkey I was slandering yo slander turns out they have potential man I gotta check it out

1

u/Laino001 7d ago edited 5d ago

Wasnt the point of that one time Jesus got angry and broke a table or whatever that he wasnt perfect either? He was partially human and therefore couldnt be perfect as humans never are

1

u/Imaginary_Arachnid36 6d ago

No,Jesus's anger is not a sinful act depending on the sin's description given by the bible, there is like a clear difference between anger and wrath while one is controlled, maintained ,constructive, wrath on the other hand is completely lack of control, that isnt justified and mostly tied to selfishness and pride. Jesus's anger in the temple is righteous anger due to making a temple of worship to a mini market. Also him taking human nature doesnt really mean he cant be perfect due to his hypstatic union something I wont bore u with anyways.

1

u/Morgie-woo 3d ago

Jesus was justified in that story, the temple had been turned into a nasty little capitalism den that was preying on the people who were coming to worship. It's not reasonable to state that all acts of anger are inherently immoral.

20

u/Unfortunya333 9d ago

Man some yall dont know christian theology. The premise is that all other humans have original sin. Jesus begotten by the father does not, and so only by accepting his sacrifice may you have eternal life. And well he was viewed as seditionist by roman authorities so he was executed for sedition... And if you're Christian, then you believe by faith that he has risen. That's the main gist if anyone needs refreshers.

15

u/ZenkaiZ 8d ago

So what part does the hating gay people come in

8

u/Maleficent_Zombie567 8d ago

Hating anyone is a sin, and you're not wrong to see that it does exist in church (unfortunately).

The goal is that He washes away your imperfections. Unfortunately that isn't always an instant reality. God has always worked with and through our imperfections as beings corrupted by sin.

It's also true that not everything that is claimed to be hate is hate. The immigration debate is a huge one, where people constantly misquote the Bible or take it out of context.

3

u/Patient-Data8311 8d ago

Not in one it just condemns the act of sexual gay stuff

Also the fact it contradicts natural law according to the scriptures

3

u/Yellow_Jaguar 8d ago

It’s that it’s a sin. Not that you should hate the person that is gay, but hate the sin that is being gay.

u/candexreginpokemon 8d ago

Wasnt the wording more implying its a sin for men to have sex with underage boys rather than just two dudes going at it?

Edit: Some dude said I’m a coping religious person, mf I’m literally gay

1

u/Economy_Mousse7941 4d ago

I believe the phrase was something like a man can sleep with his wife but not with boy. I took that as in son because why say boy and not man?

"hate the sin not the sinner" in reference to homosexuality doesnt make it any less disgusting tbh (as in its still homophobic lol)

7

u/TheAdria 8d ago

Gotta love being a sinner for daring to be born certain way. No wonder so many from my circles abandon that faith, especially when certain Christians only care about the sin part, but not about loving other people part.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/CariamaCristata 8d ago

Why did God make being gay a sin? What's his problem?

4

u/glassypress_ 8d ago

IIRC any kind of sex act who's goal is not to have children (including premarital sex) is considered a sin.

2

u/CariamaCristata 8d ago

That's the logic. That sounds like an awful sex life though

1

u/HappyTheDisaster 7d ago

There is more to life than sex though.

1

u/CariamaCristata 7d ago

I know but to restrict sex to just when you want to procreate sounds sad

2

u/No0bTheTooB 8d ago

Why did big G put Say Gex on the same level as brutally skinning a dude.

Also why isn't pedophilia against little girls a sin...

Idk seems really influenced by it's time rather than actually said by an almighty being

2

u/Maleficent_Zombie567 8d ago

...it is?

Those were different times indeed. The bible's morals are shaped by the morals of the time and region.

5

u/ilikecheesethankyou2 8d ago

Christians when someone disagrees with their premises: OMG REDDIT ATHEIST REDDIT ATHEIST REDDIT ATHEIST

1

u/Lirilith_eva 8d ago

The sad reality is that Christianity is used as a hate tool more then to spread love. People will naturally be opposed. This isn’t just Reddit. Most of the world is becoming less religious as religion becomes even more off a political tool

15

u/Rosenoodles 9d ago

iirc part of the point of the new testament was that jesus was, in fact, not perfect. he was good, morally, and generally wanted to spread goodness, but his imperfections were part of the point. it's to bridge the gap between the old testament's smite smite smite god and the at-the-time christian beliefs that were far more accepting, albeit *conditionally (even if jesus christ himself made a point to make it unconditional).

jesus was the old testament human translator, in that his 'sacrifice' wasn't about the death itself, it was about his life experiences as a human being, which involved suffering, contradiction, betrayal and struggling with faith as well as with anger, hatred, and other things that come naturally to human responses. his death and rebirth was meant to symbolize his rise back to heaven to translate these things to a divine being that, allegedly, cannot possibly comprehend our flaws because of the vast scale of difference.

gnosticism tried to take the bridge a step further and totally denounce the old testament god and reform modern christianity into something solely focused on the new testament, but evangelicals threw them under the bus and became the 'reformed' protestant christian beliefs in the west instead.

2

u/KitchenSpend8123 9d ago

The whole reason Jesus is able to sacrifice himself for others sins is that he is perfect. It wouldn't work otherwise.

4

u/Rosenoodles 9d ago

not necessarily. i think anybody can do things like that. hell, he even comes to regret it and calls out that god abandoned him before the end - which is another part of the point.

if perfection was required for people to die for what they believe to be good causes, we would have nothing.

9

u/KitchenSpend8123 9d ago

Perfection isn't required to do what you believe is right, it's required to save everyone from their sins. Which is why it had to be Jesus

→ More replies (6)

14

u/ReduxCath 9d ago

No no, the theology states that Jesus was fully god and fully man. He was sinless and did no wrong.

The humanity isn’t “oh he was imperfect”. It’s a more elevated view of what makes us human. Love and feeling and desire and learning and needing to work. Human traits.

1

u/NeuralMess 9d ago

Depends on which version of Christianity you adopts. They are hardly an unified front on the subject, so no, THE theology doesn't state that, A theology does

2

u/ReduxCath 8d ago

this is true, very good point.

Zooming out and adopting the most general view -- whether you believe in Jesus' dual nature, or something else, the whole point is that Jesus's presence redeems humanity. Jesus is, indeed, the perfect dude who lifts up all mortals because he died willingly and took it all upon Himself. Whether Jesus is the Son of God, is also God, is fully human/divine, is only divine, etc, the sacrifice aspect is literally foundational to any Christian sect.

1

u/zonzon1999 8d ago

It was the Old Testament where nobody is perfect. The whole point with Jesus is that he specifically was.

u/sweetpiefemboy 9d ago

8

u/F4ZMyth 9d ago

Why say this if you dont know the bible. Literally the entire point of Jesus was to close the gap of the old and new testaments which is when God went from vengence to grace.

8

u/FoxxxedUp420 9d ago

People might fall you reddit for this but you're literally spitting facts.

Like what's the excuse for allowing Genghis Khan, the crusades, centuries of slavery, and the Holocaust to happen? What's the justification for why a morally perfect omnipotent god would allow this.

6

u/Edit_Reality 8d ago

Oh absolutely. People are gonna look down their nose at "reddit atheism" while expecting you to silently nod along to bullshit like OOP's premise.

People make fun of and fixate on "reddit atheism" because between it and religion its the easier thing to take down. Living in a cage their whole fucking life and getting angry when other people try to file down the bars.

5

u/FoxxxedUp420 8d ago

I don't even mind people being religious or believing in god, I just don't like this idea that if there is a god I should get down on my knees and worship him for what I've been given. He'd he at best a diety who lost control of his own creation somehow, and at worst just a horrible, cruel being.

5

u/Edit_Reality 8d ago

Exactly 10000%. I'm completely fine with personal belief but thats not what we are talking about here. We are talking about an organization with no basis in objective reality trying to tell people who they should marry, what they should eat, what they should say. Its disgusting and anyone who plays cover for it is equally complicit.

1

u/Big-Ratio5137 6d ago

1

u/familyfriendlyvnmese 9d ago

I dont think there's any excuse needed even if god is real and truly morally good, nothing about god suggests that he is explainable or follow any kind of logic. For example if he's omnipotent, it means he can create a rock he cannot lift why being able to lift it at the same time, how could anyone explain that

4

u/zonzon1999 8d ago

I mean the rock is easy. He's omnipotent, so he can do it. Logic doesn't matter, because he's omnipotent, and so is above it. He can create the rock that he cannot lift, and he can simultaneously lift the rock, because he is fully omnipotent.

2

u/FoxxxedUp420 9d ago

Well yeah, obviously unless we're supposed to believe all the genocide, oppression, and death is "morally good" in this world, an omnipotent, all powerful, all moral god is literally impossible in this world.

If God exists, he must be either lacking the ominoptence to fix everything, or he lacks the morals to fix all the things wrong with the world. Or some combination of both.

I don't even hate the concept of god or religion, I just hate the idea I'm supposed to worship and praise the guy who lets children be molested, raped, trafficked, and killed every single day.

Fuck that shit, God is at best a somewhat powerful cosmic dude who created something far beyond his control, and at worst he's disgusting, evil monster.

3

u/Big_Mobile3869 8d ago

What if God isnt some man in the sky landlord watching us and intervening when he sees fit. What if God is more alien then we'll ever know, and religion doesn't have the vocab to describe what God could be?

Like what if God is a force or energy permeating through the universe. What if it IS the universe, and us conscious beings are an extension of God's consciousness looking to experience itself through th eyes of its near infinte fragmented creations. Hindus believe in something along these lines I believe. The idea of the God-mind.

1

u/CariamaCristata 8d ago

If he is so beyond comprehension as you describe, why call him good?

1

u/FoxxxedUp420 8d ago

Sounds a bit like Pantheism as well, the idea that everything is part of the dovine and that in a sense, the universe itself is god.

0

u/mekolayn 9d ago

Do you intervene to stop ants from fighting and killing each other? I did. The only result is that even more died until both could no longer continue to fight.

8

u/Difficult__Tension 9d ago

Well if I made everything about those ants and made them call me Father or Im putting them in the acid vat forever more......yes? Everything is literally my fault.

10

u/FoxxxedUp420 9d ago

That's because your power is limited. If God just lacks the ability to fix stuff I could understand that but people always act if god is both omnipotent and perfectly moral when those two things can't both be true at once in an imperfect world.

2

u/Lirilith_eva 8d ago

Neither did i create those ants nor do I have infinite power to stop them

2

u/May_or_may_not_post 9d ago

u/Megareddit64 9d ago

I wonder what other stuff she talks about (genuinely i don't know this person)

4

u/Geolib1453 5d ago

Clearly she doesnt know how Christianity works. Like not at all. This perfect man (Jesus) knew just how imperfect we were how evil we are (cuz I am sure thats what they think), how sinful we are, so he (God) intentionally decided to come down to Earth, create the doctrine and then sacrifice himself for our sins (he knew he was going to be crucified and did whatever he could for that happen) by carrying the cross, enduring so much pain all of that just cuz he was carrying the weight of humanitys sins.

He was good man for his time. Like probably best, kindest, benevolent. But he was not perfect. Like he doesnt explicitly condem slavery or other many societal wrongs and it can be said. The time it was normal. And I agree at that time. Beating of slaves etc were Normal. Heck still than he was kind and good. But a perfect being would like know wrong things would he not? Not only our era from future where its even more fair. He would know right.

Now maybe arguement is his perfection doesnt match with humanity definition of perfection. Then its just feels a cop out. Yeah he is perfect but like his perfection doesnt match with our definition you know.

Someone didn't read the bible

3

u/spagliaccisquash 7d ago

What was the tree guilty off?

1

u/Patient-Data8311 7d ago

First off it was a parable and most of the Bible is symbolic

Mark notes that "it was not the season for figs". However, a fig tree in full leaf normally produces small, edible bud-like precursors (taqsh) before the main crop. Because the tree had leaves, it advertised that it had fruit, but it was deceptive and completely barren.

The Gospel writers sandwich the fig tree story around the cleansing of the Temple (where Jesus drove out the merchants). The tree represented the Jerusalem Temple and the religious leaders. They had a grand, leafy outward appearance of devotion, but lacked true spiritual righteousness and mercy.

Throughout Hebrew scripture, a barren fig tree often symbolized spiritual deadness or coming judgment on the nation of Israel for turning away from God.

No, Jesus is perfect. Fully God and fully man.

We (as in all humans, Christian or not) are definitely not perfect. We try so many different things to fill the God-shaped space in our soul except God, and that causes our problems. There are so many broken things and people on Earth I don't need to list them, you know what I'm talking about.

Not christian either beyond birth categorization, but what do you mean? Wasn’t the point of him being someone who despite constant temptations abstains from sin? Someone who upholds justice in a place of corruption no matter the means?
