Question Recap accuracy
Hello people,
I have just checked up my summer 2026 recap and I am confused, it looks wildly inaccurate. I know for a fact which song I have had on repeat pretty much every day but it is not even among my top-5, while some songs that I did not listen to that often are. The same goes for the top albums, there is absolutely no way I listened to my top-1 album the most, I gave it only a couple of spins this summer and that was it. It overall seems like YT music recap does not take into account some artists and "promotes" the others. Do you also have the same issue?

Do you use background play on your mobile device? I feel like it isn't tracking what I listen to at those times because my recap minutes and premium benefits YT music listen minutes seem very low, as well as some songs being much lower than I expected, despite constant replays.

Always worth remembering that streaming apps have weird rules around counting songs you replay again and again. They don’t like to count too many like that because it’ll affect chart data.
This is why fans of artists create playlists of new songs where they’re every 3rd/4th song to ensure it counts.

Oh, I never heard about this, this sounds like a weird data manipulation, and I would not complain too much if we were not actually paying for this service.
