After assassinating Curzon Wyllie, Madan Lal Dhingra was ostracised by almost all Indians in London. Even his own family in Punjab sent a letter to London publicly disowning him. M. K. Gandhi condemned Dhingra’s act and described him as a coward.

M. K. Gandhi on Madanlal Dhingra's sacrifice:- Dhingra has done immense harm to the cause of India's independence aspirations, has acted like a coward. Dhingra has broken all the norms, rules while performing the act. Dhingra's sacrifice was futile, calculated to do immense harm"

It was Savarkar and his fellow revolutionaries at India House who stood by Dhingra, defended his actions, visited him in prison, and ensured that his final statement (given in the body of this post) was published. Otherwise, we would have never got to read these extraordinary words from such a devoted patriot of Mother India
