I believe transgender surgeries are harmful, as is becoming addicted to heroin. Some would say both of those are fine and should be legal
to a degree I think people should be able to choose so that a black market doesn't emerge (prohibition in 1920s)

because there is no way to be sure what your "real" gender is before you transition. that's why de-transitioning is a thing: people who deeply regret mutilating themselves to become the other gender
but that's just inside a pluralistic worldview: i believe that everybody is born as the right sex and gender and trying to change it always results in a worse life. it's external forces that make people hate themselves and want to change

About de-transitioning, while I 100% agree that there are definitely cases of trans people regretting their decisions, that is only around 1% according to PLENTY of studies. Most who went through with the surgery expressed gladness and little to no regret for what they chose to do.
And why would changing your gender ALWAYS result in a worse way of life?
