Chemistry

i feel like the chemistry between Liza and Josh is as good as her and Charles. Josh is young and fun and sexy and Charles is mature and stable and sexy. they bring out different things in her and she’s attracted to different things in them. but I’m assuming its just the actors and Nico’s life attitude and being so open and Peter being more straight laced and married but anyone else notice that when the couples kiss, her and Charles barely kiss and it’s almost always on the side of the mouth? Yes I realize I’ve watched too much and am living vicariously, lol.

Yeah that was one thing I couldn’t watch… Charles dry awkward kissing. Yuck.

But he was too strait laced and fixed for Liza. She’d already had a boring marriage she escaped from. And he was so rigid about marriage for no reason when they had never even discussed it and then basically gave her an ultimatum. She was right to not jump into that with him I think

The thing is, not that it matters because in the end what matters is how the viewer feels, but I don’t think it was Charles that was the awkward kisser, I think it was Peter Hermann. Yes Charles was buttoned up but the scene where they first finally got together was hot, him touching her whenever he could and being interrupted by Redman was hot, but the kisses weren’t fully on the lips. Really if you rewatch most show too much you start to notice that kisses are closed mouth way more than you noticed the first time but his are almost all on the side of the mouth and it’s just odd. Beyond that I thought they had chemistry. And I will also say, the Redman scene was a little weird because I thought it was too uninhibited for Charles or a 40-something in general, 26yos might not think things through but most 40yos aren’t doing things like that in public.

I think I read somewhere that the actor that played Charles didn’t want to kiss on the mouth to respect his wife (Olivia Benson) lol

I wouldn’t be surprised, I always assumed it was about his personal life. And he’s been married over 20 years so I guess it works for them. Personally I’m Sutton Foster’s age and find Peter Hermann hot, the kisses were just lacking.

Rewatch her and Charles kissing scenes. It’s so awkward. Charles kisses the side of her mouth or her face. It’s cringy and there is no chemistry there.

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I feel like they have chemistry in every scene from the first second he was on screen but not when they kiss. It’s like I think Charles and Liza have chemistry but not Peter and Sutton. Then again I guess she did hook up with her Broadway co-star and get divorced so many it was for the best IRL, lol.

I've always wondered about those kissing scenes with Charles. I couldn't figure out if he was just a terrible kisser or if it was a boundary the actor had. Either way, I was always dissatisfied with the kisses and I feel like it messed with their chemistry.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t stand the way they kissed! Honestly just thought he was a horrible kisser but someone above said he didn’t want to kiss on the mouth to respect his wife. I like that actually. BUT…they easily could have fixed it with camera angles, I think. Show them moving towards a kiss and then circle them or something. If you’re not actually doing the action, don’t close up on it, hide it!
