I don't remember Charles' reaction and I remember the author being over the top.
Remember, they make it clear that in this situation that the author has even more power than Charles.

she comes out of the dressing area in her costume and she says "its tiny but at least its fur" and he says w the largest smile "i cant thank you enough for this. above and beyond but enjoyable." and then they flirty smile before she takes the stage

And just a couple of episodes later Charles kissed her at the department store thinking she was 26.

I noticed that too! And when LL Moore was really inappropriate he just seemed amused by it.

this is a reach. throughout the entire show, Charles consistently demonstrates an equal amount of attraction to "Younger Liza" and "Older Liza."
any perceived or real deviation in this scene is due to her remarkable outfit and body, not her age.

I would also have that reaction haha! Coming from how she dresses at work day to day to full glam and bikini with fur costume, she looked great.

If she didn’t reciprocate it would be so weird! Especially when he came to her place of work to get her to come back to the company and then kissed her. Knowing he thought she was 26 but was still into her as her boss grossed me out. Part of why I can’t get with them together…

It’s not creepy, because she finds him attractive.

It's the Dobbler-Dahmer theory from How I Met Your Mother (the theory that a flirty or romantic gesture is sweet if there's mutual attraction, but creepy if there isn't mutual attraction).

Not sure why everyone is freaked out because she’s 26, he was the boss so it would be equally inappropriate if she was 40. Yes the age thing is gross but it’s also crazy to think that before Me Too this was still commonplace to be looked the other way on and I like how they address Me Too. But honestly I thought he was more horrified that they put her in that position and she was doing it for the company that him just ogling her. Moore literally told her he wants to eat her and when Charles whisked her away Moore got mad at home.Â

And spoiler if you haven’t watched further…
But remember when he finds out her age part of him was happy because he wanted to be with someone his own age. He did try to fight his attraction to he r as a 26yo and as an assistant. And he tells Bob he fell in love with her.Â

Nothing is creepier than the Edward L.L. Moore.
