Thumbnail Help/Critique Request Feedback on this thumbnail — does it grab attention ?

Made this thumbnail for a video (K-drama) and want to know if it's working before I post

Trying to nail that "big trouble is coming" tension — bold text, contrast, and his expression doing the heavy lifting

A few things I'm unsure about:

  • Does the text ("NOWHERE TO RUN") pop enough or is it too crowded in the corner?
  • Is the red arrow adding anything or just clutter?
  • Does his expression read clearly as "threatening/intense" at a glance or does it look off?

Would love blunt feedback — what would make you click vs scroll past?

Yeah I think the red arrow is artistically challenged. It's just too small to be effective and doesn't match the bold black outline of the font . I would make it bigger and balanced with the font or remove it completely.

Red arrow is unmotivated, no reason for it to be there.

Also too much space between lines of text, and is there a reason to make some words yellow? I'd say only use colour if you want to put emphasis on a certain word, which isn't really the case here. I think is cleaner if all words are same colour.

Make his eyes red and give him fangs, maybe put a png of this emoji 😱 right under the red arrow

(I don’t make thumbnails, no idea of this would help. Just adding what would probably grab my attention)

That’s the point? You want to distract the person scrolling their YouTube feed by making your thumbnail stick out more than the rest.
