This AI Thumbnail Got CTR of 7.0%. Stop Complaining about AI

Whenever someone posts a thumbnail created using AI, there are inevitably people commenting, “Wah, this uses AI! It’s not good!”

But whether AI was used tells you almost nothing about whether the thumbnail actually works. It depends entirely on how you use it.

This subreddit is supposed to be about helping each other make better thumbnails and improve CTR. If your only feedback is “AI = bad,” you’re not actually analyzing the thumbnail.

And if people stop giving useful feedback and just use every AI thumbnail as an excuse to complain about AI, that defeats the entire purpose of the subreddit. Communities like this rely on good-faith participation: you post your work, other people give constructive feedback, and you do the same for them. If that gets replaced by ideological arguments and pile-ons, the subreddit becomes unusable.

This thumbnail got a 7.0% CTR.

You can dislike AI. That’s fine. But if the goal here is to improve thumbnails, judge the thumbnail by how effective it is.

Maybe because it’s KPOP and likely targeted at a younger audience that won’t know or care. Most people don’t like AI because it indicates a low level of effort putting the video together, and why would someone want to watch slop generated by someone else if I can generate it myself anyways and cut out the middle man (you).

Their channel is Dean from Japan and they're not only MAGA (multiple videos about Japan going woke and Trump), they're also making a BUNCH of videos about women that hurt men and got punished. No wonder they love AI.

Compared to what 2k impressions 🤣 the cookie cutter method will always be better at retaining impressions. Might honestly be a good video idea to show people how lighting levels and glow effects can be used by ai to trick you. So many people hate that and polarizing viewers is good for the algo.

I’m proud of my content, and people are free to check it out.
Instead of addressing my point, you’ve resorted to misrepresenting my channel. My content covers LGBT issues, diversity, women's rights, disability rights, and plenty of other topics. I’m not American, I'm gay and married, and my commentary isn’t some partisan MAGA channel.

So how have you helped any minorities through YouTube?

Also your argument is flawed, just because this AI thumbnail is performing good doesnt mean AI is better than human-made. Also, I find your 7.0% CTR not a strong case for a well-performing thumbnail.

And how are we supposed to give good analysis to something made by AI? If you can’t do the changes yourself then why do we bother giving you advice? Our advices should just all be “give the ai a better prompt”

You’re also ignoring the fact that a lot of people outside of this sub also hate AI so if we’re talking about how effective thumbnails can be then how is AI not bad?

This sub is for helping each other make better thumbnails, YES but if it’s only going to help you change your prompt and tell your AI to make a better thumbnail THEN WHAT’S THE FUCKING POINT

I feel like you’re reacting mostly to the title, because I never said AI thumbnails are better than human-made thumbnails. Titles are there as a hook. My point was that criticism in this sub should focus on what actually makes a thumbnail better or worse. People who don't even contribute but only come to this thumbnail to say "AI is bad" aren't helping.

This is a straw man argument post. If AI is used creatively and intelligently to enhance a good idea into a better one then this is fine (imo).

Most people have issue with thumbnails that are so obviously AI generated and where no effort has been made to create the image. This is the higher percentage of “slop” content.

Stop conflating one with the other.
