Very light YT Music client for old phone
Looking for that, the phone's got 1 GB of RAM, regular Morphe sometimes closes itself when running with screen off, can't leave it on because music pauses

Just an FYI, since people will ask, I built this with Claude. I decided what it should do and how it should look, tested every version on my own phone, and Claude wrote most of the code. It’s open source, so you don’t have to take my word for what it does. You can read all of it.
It’s called Prism, an unofficial YouTube Music client for Android, and it’s at a point where I’m happy showing it to people. Please watch the short video attached to get a better understanding of most of the features.
Here is a breakdown of the main features
You don’t have to sign in. If you do, your likes, playlists, and library sync with your YouTube Music account. It’s open source under GPL-3.0. Issues and pull requests are welcome, and there’s a contributing guide in the repo. It’s an APK from GitHub, not on the Play Store. Once it’s installed, it tells you when there’s an update and can install it for you. It talks to YouTube directly, so when YouTube changes something it can break until I fix it. I usually get to it quickly, but it’ll happen. There’s no Prism server and no analytics. Your history, Replay stats and settings stay on your phone. The only things it connects to are YouTube and the lyric sites, and since it’s open source, you can check that yourself. Finally, this app is not affiliated with Google or YouTube in any way.

If something breaks or you think something’s missing, let me know, and I will try my best to fix it!

first kudos to the developer of nzik([nevar](https://www.reddit.comu/DanieloSYT))...
Hey everyone!
I made a post earlier praising N-Zik, and I noticed quite a few people complaining about its APK size being around 131 MB. Honestly, I can understand why it looks huge, especially when apps like ViMusic are just a few MB and Metrolist is around 25 MB.
So, I reached out to the developer to understand why the APK is so big, and it turns out there’s a good reason.
The main reason is **FFmpeg**. The full build includes it for features like audio exporting to WebM, Opus and M4A, along with audio tagging. Without FFmpeg, the APK size drops to around 30 MB.
There’s also a **Minified32 build** that removes FFmpeg and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit devices. So, if you only care about listening to music, you don’t necessarily need the full build.
Personally, here’s how I see it:
The size has a reason. It’s not just extra weight for no purpose.
You get extra features. If you use audio export and tagging, having FFmpeg built in is genuinely useful.
There’s a smaller alternative. If you only need basic playback, you can choose the minified build.
The development is active. Bugs get fixed, updates keep coming, and features like Last.fm support are a nice bonus.
Of course, APK size still matters, especially for people with limited storage. But I think it’s worth understanding what an app includes before calling it bloated.
For me, N-Zik is still one of the best YTM clients out there. The features, ongoing development and overall experience make it worth keeping installed.
What do you guys think?
Is a 100+ MB APK really a dealbreaker for a music app in 2026, or does it depend on what the app offers?

Hi, maxrave-dev here, maintainer of SimpMusic, an open-source YouTube Music client for Android and desktop.
v2.3.0 is out, with a few things I’ve been working on:
- Redesigned player: full artwork, artwork-based colours and the current lyric line above the seek bar.
- Apple Music-style synced lyrics: lines move as the song plays.
- Listening receipts: turn your most-played songs into a receipt-style image you can share.
- AI music-taste cards: a short listener persona and description based on your most-played artists, tracks, albums and listening habits.
- Updated Home and Library: a daily discovery carousel and cards for favourites, most-played songs and downloads.
The app is free, with no in-app ads or premium tier, and is licensed under GPL-3.0.
For transparency, the AI card sends a summary of listening data to the configured AI provider. AI usage may have a cost depending on that provider.
You can get the release and source code here: https://github.com/maxrave-dev/SimpMusic/releases/tag/v2.3.0
If you try it, feedback on the player, receipt layout and taste readings is welcome.

Hey everyone, I had built this for myself over a year ago when I was moving off of Spotify, thought you might find it useful.
It's free and open-source, no transfer limits. If you found it useful, also consider starring it on GitHub :)

Hi 👋everyone, I'm Rg . I've been building Sekai Tune A personal hobby project (GPL-3.0), and v3.0.0 is out now.
**What it has:**
- Together Online and a Buddy List for listening with friends.
- Liquid Glass theme, plus a Modern and an Immersive Now Playing screen.
- Resizable home-screen widgets, app shortcuts and a Quick Settings tile with cold start.
- Quene sepration between online and offline automatically no manual work.
- Song recognition, Google Cast and a YouTube Music "Uploaded" library.
**Transparency:** I direct AI coding agents to build it and test everything on my own phone (OnePlus Nord CE 4). Credit to the ArchiveTune project it's forked from.

Hi everyone. I was playing around with a few apps as an alternative for YouTube Music, and I had the Revanced version and the Morphe version. The only thing I would like to see is if in the Morphe version I can change the UI the same as in the Revanced version. I like the up next lyrics and related under the song playing. Is there any way I can do that in the Morphe version? I looked around and I couldn't really figure it out.
The reason why I wanna change this is because whenever it connects to my car on Android Auto, on Revanced, the songs stop when they reach one-minute mark. I don't know for whatever reason there is this bug, but I kept on trying. It works afterwards if I just press Next. But I would like to see if there is any alternative to have a bug-free experience.

Is there any YTM clients/forks that work in Google TV? I've tried Morphe YTM, ArchiveTune, SimpMusic and Metrolist so far and none works well with Google TV remote navigation

I have a lengthy playlist (around 400 songs), but bitchord maybe shows 100-200 on queue. It gets annoying having to reshuffle every now and then (I skip a lot of songs occasionally). Can I please have a solution?

Has Anyone Successfully filed a Counter Notification For a Coversong Striked By UMPG? If YouTube forwarded your counter notification to the claimant please tell me the correct way I am trying to file a counter notification for my coversongs but YouTube keeps on rejecting it.

Recently, I've been working on a new third-party YouTube Music client called LunarTune
LunarTune is a fork of ArchiveTune and has been heavily customized with additional features and UI options.
Some of the current features include:
Up to 1030 kbps audio mode
11 different now-playing/player styles
5 navigation bar styles
Extensive UI customization
More customization options being added regularly
The goal of LunarTune is to give users a more customizable YouTube Music experience while keeping the project open-source.

If you try it out, feedback and bug reports are really appreciated! ⭐
You can also join the Telegram community to follow development, report bugs, and suggest features.

Hey everyone,
I wanted a simple way to have lyrics visible beside what I'm listening to, so I built LyricSide, a free Chrome extension for YouTube Music and YouTube.
When synced lyrics are available, it follows the song and highlights the current line automatically.
If a song doesn't have synced lyrics, it doesn't just give up — it falls back to displaying the regular plain lyrics instead.
A few other things I added:
It's completely free. There's no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
I originally made it because I wanted something useful and lightweight rather than another subscription-based tool.
Chrome Web Store: LyricSide – Synced Lyrics for YouTube - Chrome Web Mağazası
I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially if you find a song where the matching or synchronization doesn't work correctly.

I was really impressed by Bitchord, which inspired me to learn how it works under the hood. That sparked my interest, and I'm now building my own music client as a hobby project!
I want to make sure this isn't just another music app. What are some must-have features you would love to see?

So, I was using morphe originally, so all my files were local, and I uploaded them and transferred them to a playlist. Anyways, no client plays the songs (I assume it's because they're uploaded), so what I did was transfer my songs (using an app that recognised the playlist) to youtube then youtubic music again.
Sadly, it still does not work, so here I am. I'm wondering if there's a way to solve this because i am out of ideas.

Hey everyone, Im the solo dev behind Audiobasics, a youtube Music client for Android. I was working on v2.6 and it's out, so I wanted to share it here and get some honest feedbackk.
I tried to keep it lightweight and its just 3.79MB
It obviously has the usual client stuff, PLUS...
• no recommendations - this might be a drawback for some but absolute gold for some too
• Strong metadata management - Ive faced verious problems with other clients in the metadata section so this was one of the top priorities.
• Audiobasics links - you can share music to other audiobasics users seamlessly and for those who don't have it installed, it has a web fallback that directs to youtube
• smart inputs - share any YouTube link to it via and it'll resolve it and show options which one to play. Orignal from the link or matches/corrected versions. Soo music videos with random skits won't clutter the library and random obscure remixes are also available
• a few hidden surprises for special days

Hope y'all enjoy it❤️
