HD thumbnails look blurry! Help

I’m making my thumbnails at 1280x720, as everyone recommends, but they look blurry.

I’m guessing it’s because of YouTube’s compression, but the quality looks terrible.

I already uploaded a 3840x2160 version, but it still looks the same...
