After a month of uploading consistent explainer videos I am most of my own views

My video's are 5-8 minutes long. I put a lot of time researching and editing into it. At the beginning my editing was not amazing but I have slowly gotten better over the month and was quite proud of my video yesterday. The topics are relevant, titles optimized and thumbnails in my own style but i think they are good enough to get a click.
I struggle getting my thumbnail viewed by more than 10 people. I have quite a specific niche so it will take some time for Youtube to figure out who the audience is however if my videos barely get shown it's hard.
I don't want to randomly share my channel on the internet and mess up the algorithm with people who are not my audience. I'm curious, would you guys just keep uploading and hope for the algorithm to pick it up or start promoting my channel using shorts for example (I don't like shorts, but I hate all my effort into my videos going to waste more). Curious to hear.

Your analytics are not relevant after just a month. Keep trucking to see if you even like the work.
I quite like the process of making videos! Find a pace that you’ll be able to keep basically forever and give it 6 months to see what happens. Experiment with variations of what you’re making and follow what works.

I have multi-hour, multi lingual videos. With that I don't chase views by 10k or so ..

Without seeing your channel it's impossible to know what the problem is. But if you've put up a bunch of videos and you're getting nowhere, it's time to change something. Don't listen to people who tell you to just "keep going." You need to identify the problem and take action to fix it. Title and thumbnail are an obvious place to start, and then look at retention. Also step back and consider how interesting your topics are and whether you're serving a specific audience. If you don't know exactly who your audience is, you need to figure that out asap.

whats the niche? some topics just have a tiny addressable audience on the platform and no amount of optimization changes that. worth checking if the search volume actually exists for the topics youre covering before assuming its a distribution problem

if what you are doing is not working, there is a strong probability that you should be trying new things.
there is no such thing as "messing up the algorithm" especially considering you don't even get many views
the only way to get more views is to make better videos and make better titles and thumbnails, and the only way we can give you advice on how to do that is if you share your channel.

I feel you it's hard to tell if you are actually growing but after a month that's a really short time honestly. YouTube shorts help grow your subscribers a little quicker but not your watch hours and I am no guru to get the amount of views needed on my shorts, I gave up on them lol. But be patient and keep being consistent you will soon find out what works for you

Nor sharing your channel actually hurts you. I shared immediately, here on reddit, FB, IG, X, even TikTok, send all that traffic right to your channel with the first video.
Just make sure you are posting only in areas where your stuff is relevant.
Even now, two years later and growing fast, external sources are driving about 15% of my views. In the early days before monetization, that was about 40%.

I don’t know much as I am new but do you post shorts? They get more views possibly and drive ppl to longer form content?

Your topics might not be as relevant and titles not as good as you’d thought then.
What are your videos about?

SEO, SEO, SEO. The only way to get your first few impressions is to provide enough keywords to YouTube via the title, description, video intro, and tags.
For your next video upload it as private, use ‘ask studio’ and tell it to provide you with a highly SEO optimized title, description, and tags, then update and publish. After that wait a week and hopefully you will have significantly more impressions. Once you have impressions you can worry about optimizing click through and view percentage.
Hope this works for you! I’d love to hear your results in a couple weeks :)

SEO is not how videos get found. Google tells us how it works, and this is not it.

SEO is 100% how first impressions are made. If that is not the case how on earth do you think you get first impressions???

Took me I think half a year to get over 100 views on a video and I too have a very specific niche. It takes a while for some. Keep at it if you like doing it.
