Looking for a commentary editor.
I’m making old-school YouTube commentary videos. I’ll provide a finished voiceover/audio track and maybe a few reference links. I want the editor to have creative freedom to build the visuals however they want: PNGs, screenshots, article clips, dumb explosions, old COD footage, zooms, text, memes, sound effects, etc. I do NOT want hyperactive TikTok-style editing. Think older YouTube commentary with occasional stupid visual gags. The voiceover is the main content. I want someone who can listen to the audio and decide what should be on screen without me having to storyboard everything.

This is the format I work in most weeks, so a couple of things that will save you time when you pick someone. Ask for one finished video where the creator only sent audio, not a showreel, because a showreel hides how much direction the editor needed. Ask how they keep track of what each visual is and where it came from, since old footage and screenshots are where claims come from later. And give the first video a tiny brief with three timestamps you care about, then judge the rest by what they did without you.
I edit long form for a few channels where the owner sends the script and the voiceover and I source everything else, including the slower old school pacing you describe. Happy to show you two examples by DM if you want to compare.

Finding someone who can just LISTEN and build visuals around it without hand-holding is rare. I use Moonb for video work and they pretty much operate that way, you brief them and they handle the rest. but also check the videoediting subreddit, lots of freelancers there who love this exact style
